Husband or wife - Who's the better cook in your household?

At our house wifey thinks she is the better cook  granted she does do more cooking than i do and can cook more things but i have 2 signature dishes! My lasagne could probably win awards and my Shepherd's pie has been described as epic! I really do knock up some great mash to top it :D

Her only argument to claim victory is, sometimes say i'm cooking something like sausages, i'll cut them in half to make sure they are hot in the middle. That doesn't make me a bad cook, it makes me a thorough cook which means i am the better cook because you wont catch me serving up raw fayer

"It depends" here too. If you want a roast dinner, I'm the expert. If you want spaghetti bolognaise or chilli con carne, then Marley is king.

Hubby prefers to cook traditional British or European grub, whereas I prefer Asian cooking. I cook Mon-Wed, hubby cooks Thurs-Fri and we both team up at the weekend.

The kids tend to prefer hubby's cooking but I reckon it's because I have a more sophisticated pallet :p
  • Definitely me! The current Mr CS can do an excellent fried egg and his eggy bread is the stuff of legend :)

However, his only attempt at a 'meal' was cauliflower cheese and shortly after it was cooked and served the UN declared a state of emergency in our kitchen. Every pot, pan, implement and piece of crockery had been used - why???

Safety is the reason! I use different wooden spoons when i've stirred something that was raw. I wont use the spoon that's touched raw again during cooking, so opt for a clean 1 :D

I'm all for food safety as a veggie with a meat allergy! But honestly it was cauliflower and cheese sauce, bless his non-domestic god wee heart :D

I do most of the cooking - my kids think i'm good, but hubby does brilliant roasties, yorkshires, pork chops and pancakes.
  • My OH is a much better cook than me. He likes to cook things fast on a really high heat, I don't know if that's the secret. I am better at baking. I can make sponge cake, bread and pizza bases.
