Who has rabbits, is bothered by cats and also has a sonic cat repellent?

What kind of repellent do you have and soes it work?

I am now really desperate to get something (cannot use a shotgun unfortunately - but may try a very large plank of wood if the cat stays still long enough) in order to stop cats in my garden.

    Hekp!!!!!!!!
Wish I could help! I bought a sonic cat repellent and it worked. I was so pleased. As it didn't cover the whole garden, I bought two more, and it worked for a while. But now (the repellents are working, nothing wrong with them) the cats just stroll by as if to say 'up your's'.
But if they did work, wouldn't the sound annoy your rabbits?

  • Very simple method - just fill up a bowl with original vinegar and leave it where these creature enter your garden and see the result within 24 hours.

    Please post your experience here.

    Thanks and good luck
  • Have you got a zoo nearby? Big cat poo is supposed to deter cats like nothing else. I would imagine you could buy it in dry pellet form!!!

My cat poos in my garden (i see him and he usually buries it ).If a neighbour complained to me that it was my cat in there garden i would be happy to sort it.
But in response to moneyfornothings post ."Cats are for people who do not want to look after their animals so they just let them roam around other peoples property, mess in gardens, walk all over the cars and urinate up the wheels and garage doors."
I regularly have dog mess in my drive way (even confronted man who i kept seeing let his dog do it)and if i dont put my bins away that morning after the dustmen have been i find dog owners have left there dog poo bag with a nice fresh pooh in it in my empty bin which if i didnt notice would squash and all ooze out in my bin when i put my rubbish bag in(also my dustmen only take bin bagged rubbish so it would sit there for ever.
Must add that there is a dog pooh bin right near my house.
My kids have walked dog poo in many a time so i wouldnt critisize cat owners for not caring where there cat poos as some dog owners are as bad with there dogs! ..and i would not do anything nasty to them as it sounds like you did in your post.

A note to add also is that everyone blames cats but sometimes it is foxes aswell as i have also seen (again in my garden!)

Obviously i cant do it now as my cat should poo in my garden but when she snuffs it i will get one of those things that sends out a pulse that cats hate. I hear this works. As for russling plastig bags i dont think this would work as cats seem to love playing with things like this.

Have just come across this thread and haven't managed to go through all 17 pages but just wanted to share my experience.

I have a very large garden, a neighbour who 'rescues' cats and many othe cat owning households all around. Said cats treat my garden as their own public toilet. I can only tell you that NOTHING whatsoever works with a problem like this. I am a mild sort of person but it makes me feel absolutely murderous - occasionally I have fond thoughts about flame throwers! I have to cover young plants with netting to stop them being dug out and the cats doing their business in the soil.

When people start making helpful suggestions about empty bottles, shiny things, sprays, pepper, etc, etc, I could frankly punch them!! If these things work, you don't have much of a problem in the first place. I even had a 'top of the range' electronic sensor, purchased at vast cost, but that only works for a while and on certain cats. In a large garden you need more than one and they need to be on a mains supply to work consistently. They also just don't last in our wet climate.

The only time the problems die down is when there is a 'dominant' cat around (ie, I only have one cat pooing everywhere) - but because of the cat rescue situation next door this varies depending on residents. I think the only thing that works is having your own 'assertive' cat or dog which isn't always an option.

I find that cat owners just don't take the problem seriously and always think that, because they put out a litter tray, their own cat 'doesn't do that'. Clearly, people's cats are doing this because I can't believe there a that many feral cats around here. I would dearly love to be able to go to the cat owner and ask them to clear up (apparently, they are totally willing to do this according to this thread) but how can you when owners allow their cats to roam freely and you don't know whose cat it is?

I do think cat owners should take this much more seriously. Cat faeces can cause really serious health problems. I seriously worry about visiting pregnant women or young children pottering around in what is a lovely garden that I like to share.

I appreciate the joy that comes from pets. However, in an ideal world, I think that those who wish to own a cat or dog should have to pay a decent sum for a licence for the priviledge (more wealthy owners supplementing the costs for the poorer). The funds from this should be available for the 'clean up' and damage costs and inconvenience others suffer. It would also be nice if cat owners took on some collective responsibility for the problems cats cause.

Ok, I challenge you to use what I do and come back in two weeks and tell me it dont work......infact im that confident I challenge anyone else who thinks they have to put up with cat poop in their garden :D

So firstly buy fresh garlic.........cost what about 80p, im not quite sure to be honest
anyways, you need to clear the area, not a nice job but cat poop isnt as bad as dogs is it ;)
Then finely chop the cloves of garlic (as small as you can), sprinkle that all around the garden, use plenty you want it to smell so bad even the cats wont know whats hit them :rotfl:
and thats the secret, the fresh garlic hums, so what cat is gonna wanna use it as a litter tray :D

so yes, please try it and anyone else and then come back and let us know how you got on. I used to have a problem with cats, tried using pepper, them crystals, orange etc etc and yeah it never worked, use garlic and hey presto.........no cats :D
You may have to treat the area again in 3/4 months but if it works not a problem is it.

So yeah....are up up for a challenge :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
