Problem : Cats crap on your grass

Solution : Get rid of the grass!! Flag it - problem sorted!

Thats like saying ban all alcohol because of alcoholics, ban all roads because of people who have accidents......

I like my lawn and I am going to keep it.

To be honest, its the bare soild that the cats have always crapped on in my garden, because they can pile soil up on top of it when they are done... hopefully when the grass grows it will stop them but thats *if* the grass grows or if they keep disturbing it...

I tried various things to stop the hoards of cats in my area from pooing in my front garden. I have found a solution - sold on ebay for £2.99 (then £4-5 for materials). For the £2.99 he tells you how to set up a cat deterent - so effectively selling 'knowledge'. I'm not going to post his idea here as he's been nice to me (I initially had problems setting his device up) and I'm not confortable with giving his 'knowledge' away for free. But the method does seem to work - not just for me - check out his feedback.

It may be worth a try for those of you who are having persistent problems.

ebay item no - 330040463124 or search 'cat repeller'

    good luck!

    Hi,

Had the same problem - I tried a combination of chilli flakes, orange oil and little spikes. By little spikes I mean 6 inch or so sticks (I used plant support canes) stuck in the ground around the affected area. This worked.

Apparently you can get motion detector sprayers which you attach to your hosepipe but that sounded a little expensive to me. However I'm told they are very effective.

    Cheers

I posted this before, but cant find it now. My fiance's mum and dad want a cat scarer for christmas. Either a battery operated or mains opperated one. Does anyone know if they are an good??
  • We had one, the cats found it very interesting, they used to sit right next to it and sniff it, alas not a great success.
I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes.

We got one to stop cats climbing into the engine of the car and causing all sorts of problems. It was very effective until my husband ran it over a couple of weeks ago! That's the scarer not the cat...unfortunately!

Ours was battery operated and had 3 fequencies to choose from for various animals.

Possible advantage/disadvantage...if you set it to the wrong frequency by mistake the neighbourhood children found it uncomfortable
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

  • Our young cat keeps using our infdoor cheeseplant plant pot as a toilet, he comes in from outside to do it and by god it stinks! How can we deter him without harming him.. Having house viewings regularly at the mo and am terrified that they will be welcomed by an extremely smelly poo in the plant pot when they arrive - most offputting. he has only just strated it, has been pooing on our lawn before that - could it be the cold weather?
  • Who has rabbits, is bothered by cats and also has a sonic cat repellent?

What kind of repellent do you have and soes it work?

I am now really desperate to get something (cannot use a shotgun unfortunately - but may try a very large plank of wood if the cat stays still long enough) in order to stop cats in my garden.

    Hekp!!!!!!!!
  • I have heard that you can buy Lion dung from some Garden Centres. Apparently if you mix this into the garden cats will stay well clear. They are supposed to be able to tell it's a big cat from the smell and won't go near it. If you can't get the dung try getting a Lion and making your own!!
  • hang some CDs from AOL on string - it will deter birds and cats
