Help!cats using my garden as a loo (merged threads)

I've not read the whole tread, so apologies if it's already been mentioned, but I’ve tried all the usual powders, dung and other stuff, but what I've got is a product called CatWatch by Concept Research. They do [did] a 90 day money back guarantee if it doesn't work.
Mine worked brilliantly until one day when the cats were back. I checked the device and it had stopped working, sent it off and a replacement was back before the end of the week – excellent service! It’s not cheap at £65 (inc mains charger), however three sets of potions, and/or lion dung and it’s soon paid for itself.
Hope this helps.0 -
Keeping the lawn short doesn't help me. The cats use my front garden as a toilet but do their business on the soil at the side of the lawn in amongst my holly tree and hosters.
They only want to be in our back garden because we have rabbits - so cutting the lawn will only disappoint my rabbits as they will have nothing to chew.0 -

You make some good points and it's good to hear cat-owners / supporters points of view. But shooting a neighbour is hardly practical is it? Can we keep to sensible suggestions, please? I know my idea of making it legal to kill cats like rats is a bit extreme, and hardly likely to come about, but it's only a small step beyond the legality of killing all sorts of pests and vermin, which no doubt endure agonizing deaths. Have you ever watched flies as they succumb (slowly) to the awful effects of fly spray? I understand rats may be more intelligent than cats, and no doubt feel pain just the same so it wouldn't be much different.

leaving their toilet in my garden so my dog finds it!
Also to stop cats coming into the garden full stop. This morning we found bird feathers all over the garden, looks like they could be from a pigeon?? Not a pleasant sight and the dog was barking like mad at the feathers obviously realising they were alien  :rotfl: .
Also my bird seed order from Haith's has just arrived but I'm pretty loathed to put it out! I usually have lots of feathery friends coming in the winter for their food.
I thought I had read somewhere about pepper being put down as they don't like that. Whatever I use must be dog friendly.0 -
I love these cat posts every few months cos i`m guaranteed a laugh at some of the suggestions! even the illegal ones, lol

Hello Lara
I've moved your thread into the 'In my home' board and merged it with this existing thread. If you read from post #1, you'll find lots of tips to help you to keep cats out of your garden.

As mentioned in a previous post I have taken responsible steps - I have wire mesh attached to the top of my garden fences at the back of my house but I have also just hung up a bamboo wind chime as I thought the noise may frighten any cats who dare to try and come over the spiky fencing. Never seen any for a long time! :j0

Thanks Snapelover but that wouldn't work for my garden. It would drive my dog banana's if she kept hearing the windchimes anyway. She's a real scardy cat! :rolleyes:0
