Hi FROGGA - do you have a Curves in your area? It's an amazing network of gyms for women only and costs a one off fee of £60 to join then £29 per month from then on. You do a thirty minute workout three times a week and you are properly supervised. The workout is a mixture of apparatus and floor work but each section lasts only thirty seconds so you don't get bored or exhausted. The music they play, and the atmosphere, is really motivating and you don't need special clothes - just old trousers and a t-shirt. Loads of women of all weights, shapes and sizes, have joined my local one. I thought it sounded expensive but, if you go the three times a week they recommend, it works out at about £2.40 a session which is a lot cheaper than many gyms and other activities like swimming, etc., plus you are not committed to a year at a time - you can cancel whenever you want if you find it doesn't suit you. I'm lucky in that I don't need to lose weight (although I lost 3lbs in the first month) but I want to tone up and I lost an inch from my abdomen which is great - I feel better for it and have only been going a short while. I missed most of last week because I had hurt my back but I have already had results in about 15 workouts! Look on www.curves.com. Also, there is a thread on here somewhere for people trying to lose weight. You're not alone, honestly. Today is the starting point and you are sounding very determined, so onwards and upwards.

Thanks for the suggestion Mioliere I can do with all the advice I can get. I have got lots of curves but not the ones you mean!

I think I do alot of exercise really so I don't think I need to do more. I know that sounds like denial given the obvious chubbyness that i am carrying! I bike to work , 5 1/2 miles and back! That's not a pretty sight I can tell you! When I gat home from work at about 2.45 I walk the dogs up to the school to get the kids. that's about 2 miles. So I think I am quite active and I am on my feet at work all day in the library ( it's not all reading books you know). It just goes to show how much I must be eating to have put on so much ! woops!

Wondering how long it will take to loose the 9 st. Getting a bit bored of it already, any longer than a fortnight and I'll be really cheesed off!:rotfl:

Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Aussie - have a lovely day

Just about to pop into the bath and wake up ds so can take him to football - its a sponsered match today. Apart from that probably wont be doing too much else - really should be but keep saying that I will do it once the kids are back at school - am going to ease myself into it slowly next week then really hit it the week after. Need to tidy up loads of paperwork then blitz the whole house - should be fun - not.

Pork kebabs for tea tonight, must remember to pick up some pitta bread down the local shop.

Mioliere - once the kids are back Im going to have a look around our local curves - I really need to do something.

    Have a great day all.

  • Good morning all!

((((((HUGS))))) to those who need one!

Frogga, I'll be joining you from today as well. I need to lose at least 3 stone. So am I no.2 or no.3?? Ummm, how do I get a sig on the bottom of my posts??

Well, DH is going to get some more plums from the derelict orchard downthe road and I'll be making jam with them....... he has to mow the lawn.............

not sure what I'm doing today other than the jam, its hard casue of my foot; laundry was done yesterday...... might ask teh neighbours over for dinner.......

not going to be too hot here today; its already clouding over.

I'm glad there doesn't seem to be any trolling on OS. On another forum I post on, there is some really nasty trolling that was going on for quite a while, then those who were doing it were found out in March. It is still ongoing as to 'she said that, no, she said it; no I didn't say it, she did' finger pointing, accusations etc. the trolls were friends on one set of IDs with those they were trolling and nasty on another set; it got really personal - about disabled kids etc. And posts can be reported and pulled there, so stuff keeps disappearing, it gets really hard to figure out what's going on!
  • *insert evil laugh here*

I've just asked DH to take out the braising beef out of the freezer so I can cook it for dinner tomorrow; he doesn't know what it looks like, so he's emptying the freezer..... he'll be up in a minute asking me 'is this it??'
  • Good morning all,

Looks promising here today. Even saw the sun peek through at one point.

I have typed a letter for DS to hand into M&S re work experience. He had e-mailed a couple of companies who do video production, graphic design and the like but not one of them had the courtesy to reply. Don't think I would want him working for such rude and inconsiderate people. So, he is going to give M&S a go. Fingers crossed. If he does well, he might just have landed himself a Saturday job at the end of it. :D

We are off into town shortly as I have a couple of jobs to do there - as well as hand-deliver the letter to M&S. Spent more money than I intended yesterday so I will have to behave myself.

aussielass Happy Anniversary. I have heard that humid weather is bad for wedding dresses in particular. ;)
frogga I would love to join in but won't be joining a gym - I will have to do my own exercises at home. Like you, I think my main problem is over-eating so I will have to make a conscious effort to stop buying the rubbish that I nibble on at night.

Well, off to have some fruit for breakfast. That's a good start, isn't it? :D Have a super Saturday everyone. xx
