The other thought I've had is whether the new houses would give them somewhere different to play. One thing for sure, the developers won't want them in the street when they are selling houses. Particularly when new cars start coming round not knowing to look out for the kids. Or people having ball games round their cars as they look at the view from an upstairs window. It could put people off buying... At which point the developer will probably start chucking their weight around. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yesterday I saw a neighbour's visitor walk up to the front door and ring the bell - before she'd rung it there was something like a 6 year old squeezing between the door and her and looking up at her ...the door opened and it looked like the kid was going to rush in/follow her in. "How bl00dy annoying for her" I thought when all she wants to do is visit a friend - and for the two of them to not have to engage with a child to say "Oi - hop it .... you can't come in here". Some are super-nosey - neighbours with open boots find a child pressed against their thigh seeing what they're doing.
.
It can be a problem when the children are just being friendly/inquisitive/extrovert.
I once lived in a house that had a bit of an inconsiderate family living in it. Nothing too gross, just annoyances and a lack of empathy for the effect of their actions on others. One of the children was a boy aged about 5 or 6. On the face of it he was friendly, shouting 'hello!", "excuse me" and "what are you doing?"
Politely enough, but it was constant. If I was sitting in my garden reading, or something, he would climb on something to look over the fence and start with the "hello!" etc.
After several of these, and me replying that I was reading, or resting, ("what you reading?", why you resting?", etc.), it became very tedious. I tried sitting with my back to his fence, and not replying, in the hope he would think I was asleep. I tried explaining to him that I was relaxing and didn't feel like talking etc., but that just produced more questions. Nothing worked, until eventually I had to go indoors to escape.
I di have a very polite word with the mother on one occasion, and her answer was, "he's only being friendly". Which was true! But it was a flipping' nuisance when it was constant and you just wanted to relax.
So what can you do? Not sit in your own garden, that's what!
If Pastures is in a Close, and it sounds like the kids only play in the Close, I would think it's unlikely the development traffic or prospective purchasers would encounter the kids, unfortunately.
Why don't they play in a back garden, for goodness' sake?(I just lurve spiders!)

Or:
"Look, there's a lovely quiet close for the kids to play in, and they'll quickly make friends with the locals. We must buy here! "No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

:rotfl: You're evil, GDB! Evil! :rotfl:
Tell you what, Pastures, why don't all the NPs come round to yours for some outdoor games in the front Close? We could have a BBQ too! How could your neighbours object?(I just lurve spiders!)

I didn't mean to be evil. (Apparently, it's effortless.) I just meant that different people view this differently.
I can see that there's danger to the kids from being run over and potential for damage to the cars. However, I actually enjoy the sound of children playing. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Different road entirely.
New lot's next door in the "new plot, new entrance off main road" way. Both sets of houses are self-contained to themselves. You can't walk between the two. From here you go out onto the main road .... down the road 60 yards, then into their entrance driveway/car parking area.0 -

If they were just playing that's one thing. Being an unsupervised nuisance, getting up to mischief and causing damage is something else. But it's NOT public land, it's not a play area, it's not a street.0 -

I agree, with one exception; I'm totally with Pastures about how annoying the thud of footballs/basketballs is.
( It also depends on whether the playing involves constant screaming - and I mean screaming, rather than just shouty-type talking or high-pitched voices - and/or swearing).(I just lurve spiders!)

Joe just got a response from a CV he submitted back in December....he has been given a trial shift at a local restaurant this Sunday!
Now for two days of angst and stress outs over it...We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
... screaming ....
And now they've got full blown metal whistles....0
