I have spent 3 hours today helping my parents apply for a blue badge and a bus pass. I have not yet finished. I want to scream. I spent 90 minutes earlier trying to do my mum's application on her tablet. The auto-correct function changed the car number plate to a town in Scotland. It changed the number of her previous blue badge for some random reason. It changed the names of her drugs to really random words. And then, when I got all that right, it crashed.

This is not helped by the fact that they have had a spring clean and shredded all of the relevant paperwork.

How anyone with a profound disability or learning difficulties, or without a carer does this I have no idea.

I have avoided the vodka, but I will be going for a lay down shortly. My head hurts.

I don't know if that's what SC saw - but that's the one I spec'd for my loft room. It was to be fitted where a single/higher/regular Velux window existed and would "get around" not being allowed a balcony at that point.

Yes that is the one. I like that that one has steps built into the roof, so those that like to live dangerously can climb out of the balcony to perch on the roof!

They set the window really low in the room so it did feel like an outdoor space.

When we did it we used a new technology called "filling in a form with a biro".

DS2-GF suddenly gets told that she is being posted to Canary Wharf, rather than East Croydon! After they have signed for a rental place!

Really annoying for them as they could have found a cheaper place to live.

Got Joe's latest college report, he certainly likes to buck trends.

His ALPS target predicted grade was Distinction, Merit, Merit, his actual predicted grade based on 14 out of 18 units completed achieving a Distinction is Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction* on an attendance rate of 88%.

His attendance rate is actually something of an achievment as it is, it's one of his highest in his school career! I think the way the sessions are organised play a big part in this, he has been ill more on the days when he doesn't have to go than when he does thus reducing the time he has had to take off despite actually have more illnesses (and a hospital stay - luckily in the school holidays!) in the last 6 months.

Luckily because of his absence record, he is more of an independent learner and regularly self teaches, he has had to be to keep up over the years. Unfortunately the dark side of this is that he finds the lessons too slow moving or that he already knows what they are being taught and gets bored. He would be perfectly happy just to be told what bit is needed to be handed in next and to just get on with it, preferably at home.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Could they get out of it if they explain?

Would it help to wear earplugs?
Not to deaden all sound, but just so that the kids' noises are more muffled.

Or turn your radio up loud.

    Or both.
