I phoned the person I know locally last night and this morning, to see if they're going to walk their mutt ... no answer. Then it started raining anyway.

I'm "ready to go" really. Finished prepping the food. Everything's ready to go into the oven, to be served 30 minutes after I walk into the kitchen.

    Decided against cauli/cheese sauce.

I've steamed the final veggies, chopped the chestnuts and added them to the stuffing mix, got out the frozen veg and popped them into marg tubs I'd kept, made the stuffing, got out 3 cocktail sausages.

    I've got:

Turkey breast, cocktail sausages, Yorkshires, stuffing with chestnuts, turkey gravy.
    Roast parsnips, roast tatties.
Brussels with chestnuts, carrots, cauli, peas, mashed swede, mashed potatoes.

I think that's the lot. There'll be a photo later, just to prove I did it :) On my new, white/oval plate bought for £1.

I expect to plate up ~1pm ish.

I'm just about to tuck into mine as I like to eat über early!

And anyway, I've been up since 04.30 so it feels like mid-afternoon!

That's very pretty Maggie :T sorry to hear you're still mostly stuck in bed xx

I don't think OH and I will be going anywhere - his hip is very painful, and I'm tired because he kept snoring and waking me up! My biggest decision of the day looks like being trying to decide when to start cooking! We usually have our main meal in the evening, so I was going to time it so that the only thing I missed was some bits of theStrictly Christmas Special, but now we might be going to DD2's at that sort of time. Oh well, may just have to miss some bits of Frozen instead.

Merry Xmas and a Happy Hanukkah to one and all.
Got some nice vinyl records for Xmas. Haven't had one in years!

All done. All cooked, served, eaten.
    Stuffed!

Glad I bought the Schloer, that was sufficiently different and light to make a great accompaniment.

Learnt a couple of minor lessons for next year's event... to improve it to perfection... like ... don't forget the Yorkshire. Took photos of it "pre-dished up" and then thought "D4mn.... forgot the Yorkie", so quickly did one of those and added it for the final shot.

Not even room for a wafer thin mint!

B4lls - just looked at the photos, I forgot the chestnuts in the brussels :)

Next year I'll not bother with cauli or peas ... and I'll pre-cook the roasties longer.

    What's for pudding?

None was ever planned. We never used to get that far when I was at home having Xmas. We'd all be full from the one, main, course.

I've that 99p strawberry trifle I bought at A1d1, which can legitimately be opened if I feel I've a small corner spare later.

Contemplating going to the beach - just because it's "one of the things some people are supposed to do on Christmas Day", the trouble is, it'll be full of "people with family and friends" and you feel a right plonker on your own.

You won't look a plonker. Either people won't notice or they won't care. For the one in a million with nothing to do other than look at other people and wonder about them, they will assume you made the dinner and now are out walking will everyone else clears up.
