'To Trump' in America is to fart - perhaps that explains the strong winds?

I'm afraid I don't follow the BBC in being quick to criticise other cultures politcal choices because they don't match our sensiblities. It is a bit like each religion's adherants are convinced they are right and therefore by definiton those who hold equally strong beliefs in a different deity must be wrong.

Yes, you're absolutely right, of course. However, I don't think it's the political choice per se that was criticised.

In England too. I've been silently sniggering every time I heard/saw his name :)

Pastures, sorry if this is STBO, but could you not freeze them in single portions?

They are. I wrapped them each individually before freezing.
It doesn't alter the fact that six need eating - and soon, to free up space and because I'm fed up with the sight of them.

Ah, I forgot that your freezer is small, isn't it?

    That makes sense, then.

My freezer mostly gets ransacked when I'm ill, and don't have the energy to cook from scratch.
As I've been ill quite a lot, it's proved to be a boon!

There was one time when I was slow to restock it, and then I fell ill, and actually ran out of food , so I tend to keep it stocked now.

Which reminds me; I need to go to the supermarket but still don't feel quite well enough to! Maybe in a couple of days........

I bit the bullet. Got the leeks out, turned out to be in two separate packs. Got the 1Kg mixed/chopped veg out. Got out some tomato juice I'd frozen the other day. Then got the tub of cherry tomatoes I bought over 2 weeks ago and a stock pot.

Lobbed in: 1 pack of leeks, half the veg pack, tomato juice, stock pot/water, all the tomatoes. Shut the lid and set it to high :)

That'll taste of something - I won't know until I taste it. I can always lob something else in, from a random jar of spice/whatever, or a spoon of curry paste, if I don't like how it's tasting in 3-4 hours.

The thing is, that's not the end I'll see of it. There'll be a good four bowls of soup, maybe more, at the end ... which then needs eating, or, sticking back in the freezer, just in a different shape/form :) I've also no bread to eat with it, so I'll have to buy a loaf and .... instantly freeze half of it! :) So there goes any idea of spare space being created if I cook what's in there already.
    Use the crumpets! Result!
(Assuming your muffins are the cake sort and not the bread sort).

Crumpets and soup aren't a great combo.
The muffins are the bread sort, but not substantial enough for me to "really enjoy" the soup.... and, I've developed a hankering for some nice big floppy bread rolls. Bigguns. That soup needs a big bread presence to turn it from "meh, soup" to "mmmmm soup!"

    I

Ooooh! Toasted crumpets and soup! Yum yum yum!

Toasted muffins and soup! Yum yum yum!

Go on, Pastures! Live dangerously! :D;);)

'As it's a pack of 2, the 2nd one will go into the box of "random cr4p you can wrap up and give as gifts at short notice if you need something" '

That made me smile, because many years ago, I got a Christmas present from someone who had obviously gone through their drawer of "random cr4p you can wrap up and give as gifts at short notice if you need something" and given them all to me! :rotfl:

I can't remember what they were, now, but a more disparate group of objects you have never before seen! The word 'random' doesn't even come close! :rotfl:
I showed them to a family member without saying anything, and they reiterated what I was thinking, without any prompting! :rotfl:

    It was quite funny, really!

Actually, come to think of it, I did get a similar bunch of 'random cr4p' objects from a neighbour, a few years later, which resembled the free gifts you often used to get from various sources!
That was what prompted my decision to opt out of the 'Give a Christmas/Birthday Present At All Costs' thing! :rotfl:

Pastures, my stick blender is about 30years old and I still use it and I'm real, alive and not a ghost.

The thing is, the electrical bit isn't the bit that hits the soup, so unless you were to drop the whole thing into the soup, you'll be ok.

Even if you were to drop the whole thing into the soup, they're designed with mega-insulation, so the worst that would happen is that it would conk out.
If you were to drop the whole thing into the soup, switch it off at the plug and remove the plug before fishing it out! But you wouldn't drop the whole thing into the soup!

Do you have an electrical kettle? That 'mixes electricity and water' as does your washing machine! Do you worry about them? I suspect not, because you know they're designed for that. It's the same with the stick blender. :A

Re. the £35 Christmas.......just make sure you pack away £35 worth of food and drink while you're there! Plus you're using their heating, lighting and water! You could be quids in! As well as having company on Christmas Day!
