Rub plastic that has taken on food colour with oil to clean it.#

Today was a long day as trains were still broken from last night (apparently if you run 800v traction power through the signalling cable due to a short the signalling system is not improved) however compared to the Croydon tram I can't complain.

Probably the one day a month when I needed to use the trains.

Specialist dental appointment required and the nearest with availability was in Harpenden. Easy 17 minutes on the train I thought! Instead I had a 40 minute drive each way in the dark.

Ah! You're making the mistake of using a bowl that's too shallow!

And/or, like Pastures, starting the motor before the blades are fully submerged, and/or lifting the blades too high during whirring.

However, a deeper bowl should solve most of those problems.

Deep saucepan required with 2 pieces of kitchen roll. Tear of 2 pieces still joined together. Open up some of the join and push down over the blender handle so kitchen roll sits between handle and saucepan brim. i always use a saucepan to avoid another large bowl to wash.

I haven't givne or received a Christmas present for around ten years. I just said I'm not doing presents anymore and that was that. Unless death or injury is the likely result, I'd not care.

I opted out, too, for reasons which I won't go into here, but the "random crap" was a big spur.

To be honest, if someone doesn't want to give thought to what they give me, I'd rather not have anything.
I've been guilty of rushed present buying in the past, too, but one day my eyes were opened to the stupidity of that merrygoround.

What I do still do, though, is give Christmas boxes to certain people, like the Postman, the dustmen, the window-cleaner, the wheelie-bin cleaner and my hairdresser (who comes to the house). That is, people who come to my house each day/week/month to do me a service I'd hate to have to do myself.

And the only presents I send are to two children abroad whom I hosted one year, and one other that I sponsor, basically because they have a lot less than we do.

I've just had to do something I'm phobic about - making a phone call to someone I've never met (in this case it was a customer services person at a housing association.)

I hate, hate, hate ringing strangers and was lying awake most of the night worrying about it, with my stomach churning.
I didn't want to ask OH to do it because he's ill himself atm.

The lady I got through to was lovely and it all went fine but I'm still shaking :o

    :T :T Ivyleaf!

    Give yourself a treat! :)

I do know what you mean, though. It's anticipating a bad reaction from the other person, or not being able to explain yourself succinctly, or not achieving the desired outcome.

I'm glad it all worked out ok for you in the end. :)

So far, I haven't got the soup on the ceiling.

That may be why you are still tasked as the blender operative. Get some on the ceiling a couple of times might be just the ticket to get relieved of that duty.

Trains still broken so am working locally but may still be the same tomorrow when I have a meeting in London so can't give it the swerve :(

    Hahahahahahahahahah! I wish!

I have problems with some of my joints that stop me doing stuff like that! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Which is why the insides of my windows are filthy! :rotfl:

They are very cheap and the bin smells lovely afterwards! :D
It's more important now that there is a waste food collection too.

My food waste = fish skin, fish bones, occasionally meat bones and fat (after making stock with them!), cheese rind, the odd bit of fruit that's gone mouldy, drained-off fat from cooking, and because my compost bin needs emptying, vegetable tops/innards etc., and teabags.

Recently, I sorted out my herb/spice shelf, and decided to ditch those that were well out of date or I'd had for ages and ages and never used, (and wanted the space), so they all went in the food waste too!
