I can't find a pic with the cushions in the grooves.
I think it cost £800 to make and they sold it for, if I remember correctly, £1200.
It was very nice, and in the right setting would look stunning.
What I couldn't get over was how someone actually thought of doing that with the downpipes! What a vision!
There was just so much work involved in the job that I'm really surprised they could do it for £800 at all. I'd really be interested in seeing the work being done, rather than just the finished product. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
In the end, I found the episode and took a couple of screen shots and uploaded them..........
Close-up of the cushions.........
A nice touch is that the tubular cushions look back to the tubular nature of the pipes!
Links to the episode. They do show a bit of the making of it.

In the same episode, a guy takes a grotty old blanket box, that even the charity shop wouldn't take, sliced it in half diagonally, and inserted a central set of shelves, to make a new sideboard.
From this......
To this......
The new central piece was made out of a material derived from the sawdust etc after a tree is sliced into planks. Can't remember the name.
(Edit. Oriented Strand Board or Aspenite).
You can't see it on this pic, but he sanded off the old varnish and put a new finish on the blanket box parts.
The end parts still have the lift-up lid function of the old blanket box, with compartments inside. Clever!(I just lurve spiders!)

Watch it on the telly catchup.
They already had the top piece, kicking around unused. What they had was a bit thick, so they got a chainsaw secured to the ground and pushed it through to lessen the depth of the top.
They made the ties, bridging the gap, by having a long piece of that ready made. Think of a 2' long length of bowtie-shaped wood. They plonked that on the tabletop where they wanted it to be used and drew round it, then cut out the holes and slid a length of the ties into the shaped hole.
The legs had holes cut and the ends turned to fit those holes.

If somebody phoned me up and said "I've bought this thing, it cost me £2,000 yesterday and I've changed my mind. You can have it for free. I'll deliver it to you and deliver/build a shed for you to keep it in... please, take it for free, my gift to you". I'd still say "no thanks"0 -
