On the plus side this morning, it looks like Thameslink will soon be paying me to commute....

Won't they just change the timetable? Add an hour to the timetabled journey time, and they'll always be early.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Link bad.
In the past I've bought from ebuyer.

This PC cost me £200 in 2006, I think I need a PC, not a laptop.

So many choices/decisions it's too much for me really.

I'd like a PC the size of a cornflake packet and a new keyboard wouldn't go amiss. This one lost its letters years ago.

This PC is only a bit younger than that. But I have updated the HD and it has a bit more RAM. It all works fine.

That's why I asked whether you wanted a larger HD? I do understand that the answer to that question is no, by the way.

Youngest has knocked Greenwich off the list. Part of me had a pang about that as it was the first one he identified and got him wanting to go to university but it is not suitable anymore for him.

Think my pang was more for the architecture though....would have loved to have walked around the grounds with a reason to be there.

We are now down to Lincoln, NUA (Norwich) in joint first place, UCA (Farnham) and Worcester...he has no clue for a 5th choice.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

The reality is that it needs a bigger HD and more RAM. But, even then, I'm bombarded with warnings that there are no updates on XP and from Chrome that my browser is out of date. I also haven't been able to use Evernote locally for 1-2 years since it stopped working on XP.

So, all in all, it's about time to bite the bullet and just start from scratch to get all latest/newish stuff. Otherwise it'd probably end up all needing "something more" soon anyway.

If it were just a £50 job to get a new HD and RAM fitted and the OS would be fine, I'd do that.

Yes, I think XP has had it. Too many things won't work, plus there are no security updates.

You can get a somewhat dodgy licence for windows 7 or 8 for a tenner, and the free update to win 10 still works if you have a disability of some sort. (Don't we all?) So, there's actually a very cheap, but cumbersome, path to the latest windows version.

If you want a larger HD, please ask. I'm sure I have something that will probably get binned otherwise.

You need to check your CPU though, I had a laptop about 8 years old now that I thought would run 10 OK but apparently its CPU does not support some instruction set that is needed 10 so I went form XP where it worked OK to Windows 7 SP2(?) that it didn't have enough RAM to run properly and it couldn't upgrade beyond the 1.25gb it had in it - that was using an OEM windows 7 licence bought online.
    I think....

He doesn't need to have 5 choices if there is nothing else he wants to do/go.
Friend's son graduated from Lincoln this summer having done a degree in computer games programming/development (sorry, not sure exactly what).

    There's a compatibility checker that's v easy to run.

He has autism, he doesn't like empty spaces :rotfl:

He also wants to match/beat the other two, James got 4 out of 5 offers, all conditional, Josh got 5 out of 5 offers, one unconditional (well not initially, changed to unconditional 6-8 weeks or so before results day), youngest is aiming to better that...call it male pride or sibling rivalry.
