OH had a speeding fine once. On his licence it said SP60, which means that he was caught speeding in an area where the limit is 60mph. Insurers question is "what speed were you doing?" Answer is 47mph! There were temporary roadworks restricting the speed to 40mph.

This is an issue I find really difficult. There are obvious intances where certain 'rules' (laws) are a catch all to try and prevent unsensible behaviour - your speed limit for roadworks when no workes are around' being a case in point. However once as an individual I start trying to selectively apply the rules then how can it not end up in anarchy?

Because people do. And in reasonable society, it doesn't.

I know I don't post much but I do like popping in now and again :)

Me too. I've still been lurking but didn't know whether to ask or not. Firstly because I don't like inviting myself to places and secondly because I didn't know whether to take it as a sign to wean myself off the NPT/ MSE.

In other news, I resigned from my job this afternoon!

I think we should be wary of killing this thread on here. It seems a shame to have something for so long and to cut the nose to spite the face. As much as I am sad about Generali, if he is allowed back (again, sigh), we might be better to muddle along. Dunno.

And I wasn't genuinely upset at not having been invited, but there are valued NP that may not post so much and be totally overlooked. I'm sure there are lurkers that might feel a part of the thread too.

Wow, that's news from you! Do you have an onward plan for work or did you just walk?! I sensed rather many posts from you about stress there etc. Better to cut ties?

    Maybe!

Or I might be working in Argos over Christmas. (Also in reply to Doozergirl) Have verbally accepted another job but not signed and sealed yet. I have a 3 month notice period (will see if I can negotiate) and needed to get the clock ticking (as much for the relief of being able to be open as anything). Hopefully the calculated risk will pay off  but if not I'm sure I'll work something out...

If it does all go to plan I might see Michaels on the train...

Well done. It'll all be fine. :)

I need to go to the shops. We got home at 2pm after what I think was 20 hours of travelling. I had a three hour sleep and don't feel too bad right now.

I'm sure I emptied the fridge before we left but I'm nervous to look after three weeks

Dunno what to buy or to concoct.

I have a bomb .... or probably not. You don't have to have a bomb to use a telephone.
