Liking the pics. The Nice Girl I'm seeing who lives in Inner Herts is quite into her birds. She's at the University campus near where Viva works and we went walking in the grounds last weekend trying to find woodpeckers. You could hear them pecking away, but unfortunately couldn't spot any. I did see some Jays, which I'd never seen before or not knowingly.

Can definitely see how people get into their twitching :)

Nice photo Nikkster! Must have caught a pigeon from the amount of feathers - the ones at the caravan usually only get blue tits, so not much mess! ;) Here's our caravan one... He got a bit too cheeky last summer!

The good thing about having sparrowhawks around is that it indicates you have a good population of small birds. The bad thing is seeing those small birds killed under your nose! Though I have to say one of the most amazing things I have ever seen was a sparrowhawk chasing a blue tit round and round in the very confined and constricted space of our crab apple tree. Twisting and turning in flight so very fast, really was fantastic to see. And on that occasion the blue tit got away! :j

PS forgot to say your sparrowhawk could well be a female - they are bigger than the males, and so more likely to be capable of taking down a pigeon. We've had them in our back garden here in Liverpool, but it's been ages since saw one as mainly use front garden these days.

How can you say 'nice photo' to me Maggie when a) it's clearly terrible (no way was I going outside to take a closer look!) and b) you follow up with such a stunning photo!

Was only after watching the bird for a couple of minutes that I realised it was relatively big and so could be a bird of prey. It had a stripey tail so I looked that up (I'm not as very advanced bird spotter!) which led me to sparrowhawk. I've had to dispose of a dead bird once before (yuck), but this is going to be a lot worse with all the mess :(

    Lir! We've missed you xx
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Hello Lir.:hello:

I assume that people are "away" for a reason, and once I know they are OK, leave them be. I do truly miss valued freinds though. I am in touch with NDG and have seen Lir on the greenfingered board..I visit under false pretences. There needs to be a thread for, "who pays a bloke to keep their scruffy plot in check, whilst drinking herbal tea and admiring the birds".

I only visit green fingered when a friend who I am in touch with in real life a lot asks me too really. :D.

I popped on yesterday for some oldstyle ideas on keeping a dog warm.

I'm not 'away' for a reason, I just do not feel the same reasons to visit. :).
