Awoke this morning apppalled that a campaign based on a race to the bottom and the political ambitions of its frontman had brought about emotionally incontinent voting. The democratic process requires a well informed electorate. A huge disservice to the younger generations by boomers, bigots and Boris.

I don't think this comment has any place on a Nice People thread. I cast my vote for Out for many reasons and immigration was not one of them. I object to being cast as a bigot/emotionally incontinent.
Not all of the younger generation voted to remain either.

What effect do you think Brexit will have on your business, bugslet?

Same here, I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen (especially as around 85% of our turnover comes as a direct result of EU export.

My main concern is more that it's going to cut the UK off of the map, than it's going to affect the free movement of musicians or vehicles, but we'll see.

Again, possibly expecting some more paperwork, but nothing too severe.

    Indeed it is...

My question for our resident economics and finance masterclass team is...

If the UK voted out, why is the FTSE 100 down by less than the DAX and other European indices?

Well it couldn't be because Brexit might be worse for Europe than it is for us as the remain side assured us many times that the opposite was the case....

It is useful having Gen and michaels on tap so to speak, even if they see things from a different viewpoint.

Two economists, you should expect at least 3 opinions.

in my humble opinion, proven NP like spirit and everyone else who posts on this thread should feel free to post what they want, we are all nice enough to just not listen if it is stuff we personally disagree with. In the past we have lost NP because they have taken offence or because they are upset at having given offence. If you can't vent sometimes on NP then where can you? :)

True - but there are ways of saying things which are less offensive. Spirit is generally a very NP which is why I wanted to post my objection.
I know some bigoted people who voted out.
I also know bigoted people who voted remain.

We can't change it so let's see what's the best way forward.

I'd be amazed if I've lasted 11 NP threads without boring everybody in listening distance to death with my need for a radically federal Britain with a written constitution, a massively stronger relationship with Europe than America, a network of parliamentary ombudsmen to replace the "House of Lords", endless referenda with voting booths in every library or via ATMs, a parliament and government for England, and a UK parliament relocated to the north or in the Isle of Man, and establishment of a Good Samaritan law and an opting-out organ donation system. Oh and Martin Lewis and the Consumer Association to become a government department.

Does anybody agree with me and my rants? Not bl00dy likely! We've all got diffeent politics. I just delete the posts later if people take offence and apologise.;)

NP would be very dull if we all agreed with each other on everything and only posted pictures of kittens (although luckily I don't get it with pets, cute or otherwise so would be able to take objection).

Although I have to admit to loving Maggie's view photos and would be quite happy if other NP would paste nice scenery photos so I can travel vicariously.
    I think....

I was listening to Radio Five overnight (your time) and there were some very angry Remainiacs sounding very tired and emotional at about 5am. There was a young man who I thought was about to kick off at one point!

4-5am your time really was Peak Leave. It was amazing. I have never, ever seen a major currency fall like the pound did against the Dollar and the Yen today. GBP v JPY went from being down 7% to being down 15% in about 30 minutes. The team Grad and I sat and watched it for about a quarter hour. Amazing to watch the world catch fire like that.

Me and James stayed up to watch it but I had to give up at just over 4.30am as I just couldn't bear to keep watching the pound fall, it was just so depressing.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

My crossness is not with everyone who voted out, it is with a campaign appealing to base instincts, insufficient economic debate (I agree we have better input on NP thread)about the impact of "leave" and the opportunistic Boris who I think would have campaigned for whatever gave him the best personal platform. I have some sympathy with those who feel the EU insufficiently accountable /democratic.

I am sorry if any NP thinks I was talking about them and rational, fair, informed choice.

With Farage as a poster boy and pats on the back from Marine le Pen and Trump it reminds me that when I was a girl my economic migrant mum told me to be "careful of the company I keep" .

Youngest is absolutely devastated and angry, his plans for his future he now feels are in tatters as he was relying on the ability to have free movement across Europe.

James is annoyed as his sector relies on EU supported and funded projects that are now all up in the air.

Josh is being Josh and watching videos, chatting to friends and occasionally having a moan...oh and thinking alcohol!:rotfl:
