I am soooo tired. I went to bed normal time and for whatever reason woke at about 3.30am and watched the pound go off a cliff with Gen. I haven't been back to sleep since so should sleep well tonight, but won't now be dreaming of my retirement home on the continent... At least the FTSE has bounced back a bit.

Yes I know that church maggie - that's a seriously nice place to have a service in, we all have to go sometime so may as well be in decent surroundings. You haven't had a lot of luck recently:(

What effect do you think Brexit will have on your business, bugslet?

tbh, ivyleaf, not a flipping clue. I suspect in the long-term that there will be some customs documentation; it's in everyone's interests to keep it to a minimum, but once the bureaucrats get their teeth into it. I used to deliver round Europe in the mid 80s before customs paperwork was abolished and it caused a delay but not much and that was before computerisation as well. No reason why it shouldn't be relatively seamless.

In terms of the sector we carry for, the UK is a leader in the technology and the export market is strong, not easily transferable and I don't expect sales to follow. If things really went wrong, it would be good for us business-wise.

I really don't like the Italians at the minute......slightly North of Genoa, so not in the middle of nowhere, and they can't get a tyre until Monday! Really?!? Useless and other less salubrious words.

Bugs, as Genoa is so close to the border, can you get a tyre from France?

. A huge disservice to the younger generations by boomers, bigots and Boris.

Technically I'm a boomer by 6 months, though singularly lacking in all the things boomers are supposed to have had. I'm not a bigot. people voted out for many reasons, bigotry and racism may have featured for some, it didn't for me.:(

I'm not Boris either, who I think is a muppet.

It's not the country really, it's the supplier. They are the biggest in Europe and have agents in Italy. We are trying another supplier via one of our fellow hauliers. Drivers are now putting in a weekly reduced rest so they can drive tomorrow. Poor lads they started in Esbjerg on Saturday morning and headed up from the heel of Italy last night - it's been a long week!

If the pound remained 10% lower than today then you would notice it in the end as imported goods became perhaps 5-7% more expensive. You might not realise why they went up but you would see the increase in price most certainly.

Why would imported goods not go up by 10%?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It is useful having Gen and michaels on tap so to speak, even if they see things from a different viewpoint.

    Indeed it is...

My question for our resident economics and finance masterclass team is...

If the UK voted out, why is the FTSE 100 down by less than the DAX and other European indices?

Perhaps they should collectively start their own MOOC!

Both OH and myself must count as boomers (ages 70 & 67). He's spent several Saturdays accosting people in Liverpool and talking to them about Remain. I've spent many hours on Twitter trying to get the Remain message across. I know the demographic is against us, but we both wanted to stay in for the sake of our children and GrandKids. So please don't blame all of the Boomers. Then there's workers rights, disabled rights (obviously close to my heart!) environmental issues. All things we've campaigned for and continue to.

I agree that there are a lot of bigots voted Leave, and as for Boris, it's all a vanity project for him really isn't it? I trust he won't make PM though he did attempt some gravitas in his speech this morning. I suspect that won't last long! As I think I may have mentioned before my money (literally) is on Theresa May to follow Camoron. Boris really would be a disaster for the country (which country? Farewell Scotland). Gove is such a po faced prig he'd be a disaster as PM - look what he did to Education! Sec of State for Justice - what a bloody laugh. :(

    Sorry for ranting!

Big hugs Spirit, mostly agree with you, just wanted to show our side of it too! :)
