The google translate app is super cool. Hover over a foreign language and the app changes the words on the screen to english.

The thing is though, it's like doing a crossword. You can just look the answers up straight away, or you can enjoy the challenge of poring over the puzzle for a few days to try to get the answers yourself!

The trouble is, you really need to have a working knowledge of the language, so as not to fall into the false friends trap.Translation is often pretty poor, though.
When I was looking up the Latin for 'float like a butterfly" etc. one of the translations had translated 'like' as 'amo', so they had seen 'like' as meaning 'love' as opposed to 'like' as 'similar to'.
Could get you into all sorts of trouble abroad, that could! :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

I once had a book "The World's Greatest Failures", which included the worst English-French dictionary ever - compiled by a French speaker who didn't understand a word of English, but did have a French-Spanish dictionary and a Spanish-English dictionary, so he looked up the Spanish for every French word, then the English from the Spanish. Apparently, not very successfully :rotfl:0
