I have a GCE in Latin and the first thing of it that I can remember is the little ditty that my first Latin teacher told us at the start of the first lesson;
Latin is a language,
as dead as dead can be.
It killed off all the Romans,
and now it's killing me.
There may be the odd other bit or two I could remember, if I needed to.0 -

My first Latin book, at age 11, was all about a little boy called Pseudulus. The book was Pseudolus Noster (Our Pseudolus).
If I remember rightly, he used to say " O me miserum!" a lot!
I then got into the habit of going around saying "O me miserum! O me miserrimum!" :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

Ours was about an entire Roman family, including the paid servants and the slaves - I can't even remember the characters' names, let alone the plot - although, as far as I can recall it didn't include "Et tu Brute", nor "Veni, vide, vice".

I'm still peeved that I missed out on learning Latin although I went to grammar school. At my first one you didn't start Latin until 3rd year, then we moved countries and everyone at my new school had been learning it for a year already, and they also used a different method of teaching Maths ("New Maths") so it was decided that I should spend the Latin lessons sitting at the back catching up with New Maths.
It only took one term to do that, so after that I was able to use the Latin lessons to do my Maths homework. Which was nice, but I still wish I'd done Latin.0 -

I took it up again three years ago at adult classes! I'd forgotten so much that I started with a beginner's course, and it soon came back! You could do that!(I just lurve spiders!)
