As for the cold, I happen to be one of Australia's leading amateur virologists. I am happy to confirm that the approved treatment for a cold is a nice, but not too expensive, drop of wine taken while watching a non-challenging film or box-set on the sofa. Try to remember that a generous mug of hot wine with a couple of teaspoons of Ovaltine stirred in is disgusting, just vile.

    Yes! :rotfl:

There are loads if remedies for colds on the market, and home-made ones!

They are all extremely effective! :D
They all cure the cold in exactly the same amount of time!
Funnily enough, in exactly the same amount of time as if you take nothing whatsoever! :D

Still, the hot toddy, for me, wins the psychological battle every time! (Let's face it, if you're a bit !!!!!!, you start to not care about the cold! right? :rotfl:)

That was the vague plan! I have followed Generali's advice in similar situations in the past and it always works. It's great to have an expert onboard. Thanks, Generali!

I did watch something quite random with Meg Ryan being cheated on. Her adversary being Eva Longoria. There is one english speaking channel. It shows movies.

Now Doozer has fallen asleep in front of Andy Murray, but god forbid I walk in front of the TV. I love that they pronounce 'Andy Murray' perfectly, as well as 'Sturridge' last night.

This is the first time since I left home 30 years ago that I've got to June without turning the heating off for the summer.

Sorry to gloat, but Wednesday was overcast, otherwise it's been really nice in the Northern bit, though I don't feel the cold too much - my electricity and gas have been around £500.00 in total for the last couple of years.

Visitors tend to wrap up when they come to mine in winter whilst I waft about in a t-shirt.

I love the smell of new roads. I've never admitted that before. But it would appear that either a) I'm not actually weird at all, or b) I'm among those who are similarly weird.

I spent a lot of time as 3-4 year old in a tipper cab delivering lime to motorways as they were being built. I think the smell of bitumen is hard-wired now.

Happy were the days before H&S when children were allowed to go to potentially dangerous environments, though with hindsight, possibly being allowed into the steel mills in Sheffield to watch the molten metal being poured was a fairly bold parenting decision.

    I love that idea!
My friend's Dad used to love the smell of old-fashioned glue - the sort you had to heat up to soften it before using. I remember her telling me her Dad used to say "Come on, kids, gather round!" and they all used to sniff the glue!

Doozergirl I do hope your cold treatment works, but if it doesn't perhaps it will at least mean you don't mind having a cold :D But poor little Miss Doozer :( I hope she soon feels better!

Pyxis I love that River Thames on the floor too, and the sculptures of the different types of craftspeople involved in the design and building of the place. Every now and then, one of the loos gets refurbished and looks great again for a while. (Not the same loo each time, obviously :D) I have been saddened the past couple of years or so to find two of the few shops I actually used fairly regularly (as regularly as I could afford iyswim) were closed down because the footfall was too low to keep abreast of the massive rents and rates :(

Just watching Michael Portillo on one of his Great Train Journeys, which are fascinating!
I knew he was half-Spanish, but decided to google his biography.
To my great surprise, I learned that he is married! I always thought he was gay!
(Ok ok, I know being married doesn't preclude you from being gay or bi, but he always struck me as being single, too!)
(Ok ok, I know that being married, technically, doesn't preclude you from living alone, but....) :rotfl:

I must admit, for a long time I've really enjoyed his broadcasts. He's a much better broadcaster than politician, IMO. I think he is destined to become a 'treasure', as he has such a nice, welcoming, kind, inclusive approach. Probably why he wouldn't make a good politician! :rotfl:

Too hot for me! Went to lottie 2 days ago, still recovering from digging for about an hour.

We are really wanting rain as the nemaslug arrived today and you have to put it on damp soil... Soil has a crust at lottie, though OH has been watering the spuds. He's also planted leeks, broad beans and french beans. We still have an artichoke to plant. Doubt I'll ever eat any of the artichokes, but it's a statuesque plant and will look good on the plot! :rotfl:

Other news I just put £20 on Theresa May to be next leader of the Tories at 7to1... I sincerely hope she isn't, :( but at least I'll make some money if she does! Is that what they call hedging your bets? :o

Too hot, too hot, too hot! Come friendly rain and fall on our lottie so we can put out our nematodes to get the slugs!

It was always rumoured that he and Peter Lilley had been caught en-flagrant but that they had an injunction or similar but that it stopped their political careers from ever going any further.
    I think....

    I watch that
    I do that
    I thought that.

I've had the same thoughts, good as a presenter.

Having said that, after the joy of finding/watching a few episodes, he does get on your tits a bit with his "self satisfied air of tweeness" :)
