    Thanks.

Except it's in the Lake District ;) Maybe it'd do well to show people what there is on the right side of the Pennines, i.e. outside Yorkshire? :rotfl:

    Oops! :o:o

I knew when I posted it that I should have checked! :rotfl:
    Probably thinking of Raydale?

Re. using my phone, well my mobile is very old and very basic. Yes, it takes photos, but they're crap, and I haven't got any way of transferring them to my iPad; it's not a smartphone.

I keep meaning to look into getting one, but then the choice of tariffs and providers becomes overwhelming and I give up!

For that subject, way OTT IMO. I'd do similar for a particular landscape if I wanted the right light, etc., but not for something as mundane as that.

Not even for this one? :D

TBH, I'm old-fashioned enough that I don't consider phones to be proper cameras. For me a camera is a camera and a phone is a phone, making one pretend to be the other results in compromise. I had to laugh when I got my current phone. The girl told me "Well, it can do this, and this, and this, and ....." The one thing she didn't tell me was whether it could make and receive phone calls, the very reason I wanted one :rotfl:

I've only ever used the camera on my phone for photographing barcodes of things to add to the shopping list ;)

No, that one had no planning whatsoever until I got there and could see the potential. I certainly didn't set out that day to get that particular shot.

chris_m - on the basis you must have 10,000 images.... how do you store/organise them so that you could sit there and think "Ah, where's that photo I took of that red car .... when I can't remember where it was or when it was"?

I rename them all by date and the order shot on that date, for example that shot, 060413_060, was the 60th shot on April 13th 2006. Then I use Adobe Lightroom catalogues to give me a visual "index". All I need to know is roughly (year/month) when I took a pic to be able to find it.
I can also refer to my website, which has some degree of categorisation to aid navigation. To locate that shot, because I knew it was on the website, I just looked in my offline copy under Lake District, Rydal Water and there it was.

I'd like something like that on my PC. I found flickr worked similarly, but I had so many and it was so slow to upload, I kind of stopped bothering :)

I used to have a database, but it became too arduous to record every pic (especially after a productive fortnight away) that I let it get so far out of date that it wasn't worth continuing.
I could probably tag images in Lightroom if I wanted or it became important enough.

I would love an app that would autotag all my photos, obviously I could help it by telling it who is who in a few photos but then it would be great if it could scan through everything and add tags such as 'red car', 'sunny day', building, indoors, outdoors, DW, animals etc etc

Oh and if it could work on vids too that would be ideal :rotfl:
    I think....

A friend who seems to have moved from amateur to pro photographer, posts some interesting images on FB sometimes. Occasionally people ask which camera he used. 30% of the time he has used his iphone 6.

I really wanted one, because the design was sooo new and different, but I was very young and my mum didn't earn much and couldn't afford it.

I'm sure we rented it from the GPO!

There have been other things we have rented over the years, washing machines and TVs. Must have been the precursor to direct debit/ standing orders because there definitely wasn't a coin feeder attached.

I also recall that my parents decided the cost of a washing machine and repairs was greater than using a service launderette for a spell. Not sure how long that lasted, but there were definitely black bags arriving and departing from the house.
