    Didn't work

I've lost track. Was CK in the car?

    Nope

As a woman in a taxi on my own, I would find it decidely unnerving. Unless they were already known to each other, when I would find it just a little bit creepy. If you both already know the taxi driver I would just find it odd.

But CK is in the trade, so maybe that is what he instructs all his drivers to do???

Not one of my drivers. Apparently he was really friendly, didn't try anything, but was really talkative at the same time.

I saw the question of St Georges day.

In the Orthodox calendar, it comes on Easter Monday. We celebrate Easter (and Christmas) later than in the UK.

I've been watching the Eurovision Red Carpet from Stockholm. Interesting... the big cheers went to Belgium, France and Sweden. I wonder if there will be a big vote this year for the countries that have suffered from terrorism (with Sweden getting a big cheer as home country). Several other countries (including Russia) were also cheered, but nowhere near as loud.

Oh, and of those straight through to the semi finals, Sweden (I think), Germany and France drew first half. UK drew second half, not sure about Spain/Italy.

    It's from here: http://www.conkerspirit.co.uk/

I smelt it, can definitely smell the lavender in it. It's also got ... er... juniper, lemon ... and two other things.

    :)

PN's verdict: Would drink again. Tasted nice. Doesn't make you shudder/shake your head. Very genteel and drinkable.

That sounds yummy! Must try some!
It's got samphire in it! That's one of my favourites! Yum!

By the way, peops, do read the blog on his website......it's very good!

Returning to Soreen ... and pointing out the obvious, that Food > Eurostuff :)

I had just one and found it a bit "sticks in your teeth and you need a drink with it as it gets stuck"

I then hit the Soreen website.... and found this, which I think you might consider - as it's dead easy and "just the weather for it".
    http://www.soreen.com/recipes/soreen-ice-cream/

But ... while I was on their site, I espied another variation that sounds super tasty:
    http://www.soreen.com/products/toffee-squidgy-cake-minis/

They've got masses of products on their products page. I think, choosing from the whole range, without having tasted any, I'd try the toffee before the banana.

I bet the ice-cream, made with the toffee one and topped with a half shot glass of toffee vodka would go down a treat :) Possibly with some chocolate curls added.... mmm and/or maybe a 99 flake ... and maybe a squirt of puffy cream. And maybe served in a "cheesecake style chocolate biscuit" crust, or just a simple melted/reset chocolate cup.
.....and now I hate you, PasturesNew!

I've got a couple of interesting sounding experiments to try towards the end of the week when my Asda order has been delivered.

The first is Lamb Breast stuffed with leek and chestnut, sounds tasty although I'll be using Herdwick Hoggett rather than Lamb - the farmer I bought it from doesn't do lamb, he said he likes to let them have at least a year of life before he has them slaughtered.
The first thing I wanted to try once I'd moved here was the local breed of sheep because it's reckoned to be a stronger flavour than "ordinary" lamb. Judging by the bits I didn't freeze straightaway I'd have to agree.

The other experiment was in this month's local newsletter/pamphlet - whisky tea bread. The author actually called it whiskey tea bread, but I only use the Scottish variant so that's what's going in it - just a blended for the first attempt, if that's any good I'll risk some of my malt ;)

"They" do say that hoggett tastes better ... but then "they" tend to be those who are selling it :)

Tea Bread: I think that can be done in muffin cases .... handy for then posting off to NPs for feedback :)
