"They" do say that hoggett tastes better ... but then "they" tend to be those who are selling it :)

True, but I have also heard it from people who've eaten it (and don't sell it). TBH I wasn't bothered whether twas Hoggett or Lamb, provided it was Herdwick.
Luckily, I haven't walked the fells around this particular farm so there's little chance that I've previously met and said "Oi, mint sauce" to what is now residing on my freezer ;)

Just scoffed a Soreen mini loaflet .... with lashings of hot custard.

When I was a lad I used to love Harvo Malt Loaf. Just checked. Made in Birmingham but went bust in '73.

We were celebrating our anniversary and we realised we got married the year the first website went online. The kids were gobsmacked.

Hats off to you if you kept any kind of a social life going after you had kids. We just ran out of energy to keep contacting people. Life simply got a bazillion times more complex and demanding and our social lives just contracted down to our work and mutual babysitting circles. Assuming that your friends drifted away deliberately is probably crediting them with far more energy and purpose than they could possibly summon.

Everybody else just vanished. I think. Quite a few were in public-sector jobs and moved abroad for better pay/ job conditions /quality of life than you could get in London.

Ours pretty much ran away as quickly as they could because they couldn't handle/cope with the boy's disabilities.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Don't mention that when you were growing up there were no such things as mobile phones as you will suddenly be a living history exhibit.

There is a piece on bbc breakfast this morning about an autistic lad drumming in front of an audience.
    I think....

    .

    :o:o:o

I, like a lot of others on this thread, I'm sure, grew up with this sort of phone.

    332.gif

It being in a cold hall, before central heating was installed, kept the phone bills down.

Many's the time I thought how wonderful it would be to have a phone I could take into the warm living room. (Never thinking it would ever happen!)

Then when that did happen, many were the times I thought how wonderful it would be to have a phone you could take with you when you went out. (Never thinking it would ever happen!)

(Would you get paid being a living history exhibit?)

I bought a new camera this week, as I was fed up lugging my heavy, bulky-ish bridge camera around on holiday. When it was delivered, I unpacked the small box and thought, where is the camera? All the accessories were there, but ? no camera?
Then I realised that the opaque bag I thought was the battery was actually the camera! Hahahahahahahahahah!
(Well, I had wanted a small camera! :rotfl:)

The best camera is.... the one you've got with you.

A simple pocket-sized flat cameraphone/similar/anything that can be used on a whim's so much easier/faster/better and you can have a small one with you all the time, instead of only those 2-3 occasions/year when it's consciously decided upon and then lugged around.

Spot on - I have a full set of DSLR kit, several bodies, several lenses, etc. However, I now only use those when I have a specific purpose for which I know my compact won't do the job. Most of the time it's the compact that gets used because it's light and easy to carry around, but I don't regret having the big kit because I know there will be times when the big kit will get the best results.

Of course, the most important part of a camera, any camera, is the part which is located about 2" behind the viewfinder ;)
