We originally had one car, a micra that we juggled between us for work, ferrying kids. Since we've got two we couldn't figure out how we ever got by with the one. Especially as we missed the MOT on one and couldn't drive it for a few days.
If we did get rid of the other car, I suppose we'd just have to get better organised. Might save a bit of money though. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

We had two, but now manage with one between us.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Not much room? Take the top down and the sky's the limit, or maybe the next low bridge is :rotfl:0 -

We have a crazy 2 car situation, one we use an a second which in theory does the trips the first one can't. But because we don't trust the second we only use it does local trips that the first could do anyway and the very few occasions we need 2... and pay 200 in insurance 190 in tax, 500? in depreciation and 150++ in mot and repairs on a car that does 1000 miles a year at most. Come the summer holidays it will be our one big trip that the second car should be for but I don't trust it to travel 250 miles there and the same back plus the ac doesn't work and needs 350 to make it do so so it is jot pleasant to be in.I think....0 -

Is there a case for hiring a car now and then? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Thank you Doozergirl
I remember around twenty years ago my then GP would cheerfully give all his patients with bad hayfever a steroid injection every spring. It took a few days to kick in, but then all the symptoms vanished for the rest of the season. They don't do that now though.
I'm sure there must be quite a lot of people who don't care what the steroids do, they'd just like to be able to breathe properly and not have streaming itchy eyes, runny nose, wheezy cough and infuriatingly itchy throat, please!0 -

It's an idea, but depends on whether you can get to where you need to pick it up or can get it delivered and whether you can get it on a Sunday I.e. comes down to the practicalities.
I have seen a scheme whether you hire privately owned cars. Again depends if there is one near you and whether they deliver and what hours.0 -
We got a tree and some brambles disposed of a few weeks back and need to find a way to stop it all growing back. We never identified the tree. We've only been here for ten years and it grew from nothing until it was taller than our only existing tree (a plum tree).
Could it be a sycamore?
They self-seed like weeds. Well, they are weeds.
I was plagued with them when an former nextdoor allowed a sapling to grow enormous and to full maturity and it began shedding seeds. Was forever pulling up saplings.
Luckily new nextdoor had it cut down.
Brambles are a pain. I use roundup but they still grow back. Like the lawn I've been trying to kill for twenty years!(I just lurve spiders!)

Brambles are everywhere. I'd like to keep the lawn and let the brambles die. And any saplings will be invited to leave. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
