Aggressive agnostic. Isn't that an oxymoron? I thought the whole point of agnosticism is not having a very strong view one way or the other.

Maybe means atheist like Mr Dawkins....?

I always enjoyed Douglas Adams's reference to Jesus, "2,000 years after they nailed someone to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to each other for a change".

I also liked the reference to Oolon Colluphid's "trilogy of philosophical blockbusters" :rotfl:

In fact, come to think of it, I'm surprised that this series of threads hasn't been shut down yet! :D

(Or is it just a matter of time..................?)

    .

In practice, we get very few trolls here, and well practiced ways of dealing with them if they do so. They get fed up quickly and leave, whereas many if not most if those posting here have been around since the first NPT. Sadly, a few of our thread stalwarts no longer post, but NPTs have been going for a long time with very little trouble.

The first NPT was started in November 2009, a long time in social networking history! We were here before Snapchat, instagram and Pintrest, for e ample!

Assume that's the Where God went wrong books...?

Douglas Adams did some fun stuff on theology and philosophy. The thing about proving that black is white and going on to get killed on the next zebra crossing springs to mind.

No, I meant because it is such a nice series of threads, written by and for such nice people, and advocating niceness everywhere, the Establishment might view it as a bad influence and a threat to their sovereignty, and come and raid it!

Weather's glorious here. Took the dog for his walk in the park earlier. It was absolutely mobbed, as everybody else was trying to get it over with before it gets too hot.

Might mow the lawn this afternoon. We got a tree and some brambles disposed of a few weeks back and need to find a way to stop it all growing back. We never identified the tree. We've only been here for ten years and it grew from nothing until it was taller than our only existing tree (a plum tree).

Gah, a few days after saying my hay fever seemed to be easing off, here I am with a really tight chest, and breathing seems hard work, to the extent that I've stayed home from church, which doesn't happen often as I'm in the choir  I've taken a maximum dose of my nasal spray and have just taken one of OH's loratidine tablets, as I had a cetirizine last night.

I'm sure the Express said something about a "cloud of toxic smog coming over from the Continent this weekend" (I always browse all the front page headlines in the paper shop while OH's at the counter :D); can't see any smog, but definitely very uncomfortable, while OH who actually has less than full lung capacity seems to be fine!
I am sure it is just due to hay fever, I've had this before. Not pleasant though.

You lot have been busy over the last few days! It's nice to see lovely new contributors making it busy and a variety of topics.

I've eaten too many Oreos. I haven't had sugary food for weeks. Feel a bit sick now :o

I want to take my lovely new car somewhere. Not sure where to go. Cotswolds maybe? Can't leave until 1pm though.

We've decided to sell chewy's car. As sad as it is a fantastically fun car, we've needed the bigger mini three times in the last week. We're loathe though, as neither of us has cleaned it to photograph or looked at what it's worth.

    We need one practical car.

The new one is a convertible. Big enough for the kids to sit comfortably, but not much room for stuff and no room for doglets.

:(. It's sad that such lovely weather can bring misery with it. I hope the drugs kick in soon! I only found out a couple of years ago that we should try different antihistamines as some will suit a person better than others.
