Still playing catch up while doing stuff on Twitter etc...

But thought this was funny and you might like it.

Things getting a bit weird here, so not sure how often will be around, we were going to caravan but not now - dear MiL not well. :(

Nice to know I've got a few pages of Nice People news to catch up on when I'm feeling sad or bored.

Oh my car playing up again too. OH just contacted Motability and they'll call later or when they can - he emphasised it's not urgent in terms of car is home and we can manage without for now.

Big hugs to you all from sunny Liverpool.

Trmphones were trendy. We got one of these. Not quite as neat as the phones in the Prisoner, but the next best thing.
We used to get "crossed lines" now and then.

Our neighbours had a Trimphone for a while - they got rid of it when they found out that one of the local starlings could do an extremely realistic imitation :rotfl:

Luckily the BBQ was last night, its pouring here now.

Something must have happened in Eurovision, odds of UK reaching the top 10 are now only 6-1.

Apparently I could lay the bet, meaning I would lose nothing if they don't reach the top 10 but reduce my winnings to £20 if they do.

I am being dragged out to play backgammon tonight, haven't played it since I was a kid. Some charity thing, so hopefully not being taken too seriously.

Hey! Talking of cameras.. Just seen this in The Arms.

A poster called pogofish took this photo of the transit of Mercury across the sun earlier today, using "a little snapshot camera - a Lumix TZ60, with the aforementioned filter [093 (87C) filter] held over the lens and using the LCD screen to compose on".

Well I wish I'd put my Eurovision bet on sooner. A combination of the UK being good in rehearsals and the second half draw made yesterday, have shortened their odds of winning to 25-1. The consensus now seems to be that they probably won't finish in the top 5, but stand a good chance of doing better than any UK song for a long time.

    Who would have thought it?

Oh, and Justin Timberlake rumoured to be the half time act... will the USA follow Australia and join the contest?

If you watch it this year for the first time in a long time, you'd be quite surprised. There are no real novelty acts (or none that will make it out of the semi-finals) and plenty of credible euro-pop. There could still be a bonkers outfit or two though... on the red carpet for the opening ceremony one artist wore a very silver shiny jacket that she'd designed and made out of those emergency blankets.

Oh, and wheezy, sorry, no Polish washerwomen.

WVS Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to digitise some of the 300,000 pages of war diaries by the WVS women.

We need your help to capture the first 28,000 pages of this narrative from 1938-1941
We have 300,000 fragile pieces of paper in our safekeeping which make up a vast diary of women’s lives covering almost every city, town and village across Great Britain for over 50 years

If you scroll down you can buy stuff - and one thing that can be bought is access to the information for a year, while the project is going on, before "the public" see it. They've provided a full list of everywhere they're digitising.

Unfortunately, for me, my area of interest has simply 4 entries :( - and that's for "the nearby town". No villages whatsoever!

    http://www.royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk/Uploads/Documents/About%20us/narrative_reports_all_counties.pdf

By comparison, say, Herts has 62 entries.
