Tomorrow I've got to give a presentation on my vision for future HR initiatives. My boss's boss's boss will be there so it has to be good. I think it's good, but I need vibes please.
I also have an interview on Wednesday for a job at a different company. Vibes for that too, please, if that's not too cheeky!

If you scroll down you can buy stuff - and one thing that can be bought is access to the information for a year, while the project is going on, before "the public" see it. They've provided a full list of everywhere they're digitising.
Unfortunately, for me, my area of interest has simply 4 entries- and that's for "the nearby town". No villages whatsoever!

By comparison, say, Herts has 62 entries.
I don't know about this particular project, but there is a big drive on in Herts for volunteers to digitise the social side of the history of war. One project I am aware of has involved ensuring the names of the war dead on each of the memorials are recorded centrally. I know that there are others, but don't have an involvement in them.
In St Albans they are looking for volunteers to help the museum curators sort and catalogue the collection. It's a shame you're not nearer Pastures, its the sort of thing that you might enjoy. Though there are plenty of similar volunteering opportunities in museums and archives elsewhere. I don't know where you live, but maybe something like this:

You'd be great at it. It will be based in Central London, which is very convenient, as much as I like working in Inner Herts. I think it's time for a change. My girlfriend still lives and works in Inner Herts so I won't be missing out too much as I will still be visiting frequently“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. I was 10.
My parents would have had a phone before I was born. The first one I remember was a clunky rotary dial thing mounted on the wall. I am pretty sure it was rented from BT.
My parents always used to answer it by saying the name of our town and then reading out the last six digits of the telephone number.0 -

My parents used to just say the last 6 digits. Then they had one of those looping conversations about how that would give your number to anyone who had dialled the wrong number and stopped.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. When different phone companies got into the market they wanted to promote the idea of having an extension in the kitchen, as in the US people spent a long time on the phone but in the UK people didn't want to stand around in the hall (which isn't even a room and won't have chairs) so we kept calls clipped and short.
The fact that in the US you weren't charged for length of call didn't seem to suggest another reason why we kept our calls shorter than theirs.
As regards answering the call, yes my parent gave the town and phone number. It think it was Ballachuilish 3.;)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
