... greenhouse ... licence ... pub .... pretty dry 20 months outside of home and travel.... the dry cleaners, the hardware store and the farm shop.

    It's all excitement here. I can't sleep.
    All exciting stuff then!

It's one of the reasons I've never bothered drinking .... it's only ever been just me driving.

German students decided they couldn't keep up the pace of coming in at 1.30 every night after 10 days so came in at 2.45 last night the noisily raided the fridge and giggley went to bed. There are going to be words today, this is not reasonable.

    I'm guessing they aren't aged 12-13!

2.45 sounds like they got treated to some local English sausage.

After sausage do you still have giggly munchies? They have also brought German sausage with them in their party so they may not have sampled the local variety. Of the 3 two claim to have a boyfriend. Of the 2 one gives the impression that is might be an issue....

We passed walking to work this AM and gave her a lift - 20 year old women should not smell like that in the morning :(

I have just got back from Barca. They make A LOT of money from stadium tours. It's one of the biggest draws. My bro is making a trip there next month to show his boys. I know some of the London stadia do the same, but over there it's a machine. It isn't even a particularly nice looking stadium.

DS and I did the tour, not long after we did the Anfield tour.

The difference could not be more marked.

The Barca stadium tour was slick; polished; modern; self-serve ...all the usual things. I suspect they got someone in from Disney to design queue management.

In short, it was dry and ultimately a bit boring. Looking at trophies in cabinets can do that to you.

The Anfield tour was some bloke from marketing on one of his quieter days, showing a bunch of 30 or so people around his favourite bits (ie the bits not falling down). He would talk excitedly about the Kop because he stood on there as a boy. He talked about "Brendan" a lot because he was around a lot. The whole thing was tinged with typical dry Scouse humour (the famous distorted mirrors in the Away team changing rooms).

It was low-tech shoestring stuff, and much better than the Barca tour IMO.

Agreed. Door chain should go on at a set time on a school night. Are they actually studying?

Supposedly they are getting work experience, they are form the German equivalent of our apprentice/day release scheme where they do 1 day a week in college. Part of the work seems to be spending 3 weeks in the UK although this is treated as annual leave from their German employer and the British employer does not pay them...but then also seems happy to only have them around from 9.30 to 4 with an hour or two to sleep at lunchtimes.

Out of interest, what was the price difference?

Apparently Barca gets over 1.5m visitors a year to its tour and museum and it is the third most visited in Spain and busiest in Catalonia. I've never visited it though, not my thing at all.

I used to work for a Franco-American company. We would regularly have people working for us who were avoiding military service by working overseas. One of them was even playing for the French national Rugby team at the time, including in the Six Nations! It was in those pesky days when gifted rugby players were not as wealthy as they are now.

20 odd euros for Barca, and 20 odd pounds for Anfield
(which probably means I dont remember exactly!)

Gen, if you happen to be around, there's someone on the holidays abroad board who is looking at living in either NY, Melbourne or Sydney. They can transfer to any of those with their firm. Thought you are ideally placed to contribute if interested.
