Thanks for explaining about FFP
There's a piece by Karren Brady in the Evening Standard today, explaining why she thinks Zac Goldsmith would be the best choice for London Mayor.
Blowed if I know who to vote for, not particularly impressed by any of the candidates0 -

Zac Goldsmith is an annoying trust fund kid (I agree with plenty of what he says but he is an insufferable !!!!!) and Sadiq Kahn keeps some very unsavoury company to say the least and both have apparently had supporters that have been engaging in some pretty unpleasant racial politics.0 -
Simon Jordan's book, Be Careful what you wish for, is a good read. (he of Palace fame)
He really doesn't hold back on his dislike for the Brady / Sullivan team in charge at Birmingham at the time.
Snakes in the grass, would be the most polite term for them.
Maybe there is a multi faceted persona at work.0 -

Yeah.
Karen Brady is quotable and that's a lot of fun but I wouldn't trust that team as far as I could throw them.
There's a big gap between enjoying a quip and thinking someone does business in the right way. I suspect that hasn't come across.0 -

Some scroat made a major scratch on our bumper probably this morning and drove off. Luckily it is the old car so doesn't really matter but still - how hard is it to drive down the road without hitting a parked car and driving off
And our garage door came crashing down (luckily not on the good car or anyone), I think I have fixed it but it is hard to trust it now - when we frst got it it happened fairly reguarly (poorly installed) but I made a mod and it hadn't happened for several years. It was a real !!!!!! trying to get it back up onto the mountings and secured.
Plus it looks like I am back to London for another 6 months plus in the next few daysI think....0 -
Well next year could be interesting. Teams like Tottenham and Liverpool will have far higher player budgets than everyone except probably Real, Barca, PSG and Bayern Muchen.
Even as things stand, for 2014-5 even West Ham and Newcastle make the top 20 clubs by revenue across Europe. Swansea, Palace and West Brom make the top 30!!!!

Now I realise that revenue is a pretty silly way to rank football clubs as obviously there's the cost side too. For Barca just operating their 100,000 seater stadium is going to be plenty more than it is for Tottenham to run 36,000 seat Lane. Still it's the only tool I have to hand an when all you have is a hammer every problem looks like a nail!
Interesting times for football. I wonder if Abramovich and Mansour have accidentally saved English football from itself. Without them Man Utd would be winning almost every year with the odd guest appearance from The !!!!*al. Maybe that money those two have spent has lifted all the boats to the extent that the money it has drawn into football means that all get to benefit.
I have just got back from Barca. They make A LOT of money from stadium tours. It's one of the biggest draws. My bro is making a trip there next month to show his boys. I know some of the London stadia do the same, but over there it's a machine. It isn't even a particularly nice looking stadium. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yesterday I watched in absolute amazement as two police squad cars with blue lights on came screeching to a halt outside a Burger King, one policeman even put on a balaclava, then went in and ordered burgers. You don't get that in the UK.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Today my new greenhouse was installed. Took the chap 5 hours.it would have taken Mr Spirit all weekend, so a good thing to contract out.
My licence was effective today, so I updated my insurance ( will be getting a refund as provisional was more expensive) and took Oh to the pub so he could have a beer and be driven home. He does not drink a drop of booze if getting behind the wheel, so has had a pretty dry 20 months outside of home and travel.
Tomorrow I may journey to the far reaches of the dry cleaners, the hardware store and the farm shop.
It's all excitement here. I can't sleep.0
