Failing to benefit from lower mortgage rates whilst suffering from lower savings rates is lose:lose in my book. It was a punt, it lost.I think....0

I don't actually object to paying the tax that is due and actually I think given that we limit building in this country that the gains that accrue to property owners (including PPR) should be taxed. Normally I am strictly PAYE so you don't feel the same pain in paying tax that you never get in the first place as you do giving up a 5 figure sum that was sitting happily in your bank account.
I thought you avoided PAYE as much as you can.
Anyway a 30% gain in 18 months sounds like a win to me, even if you lost 1500 on the rate and even if you had to pay CGT on it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I'd have made 50%+ in 30 months if I hadn't got nervous about the election but it was my own risk averse call so I'm not complaining about it. Where I have lost is in assuming that borrowing and savings rates would stay the same or increase when actually they have fallen.
After I complained to the Germans yesterday they apologised profusely and admitted they couldn't have behaved that way at home and are on their best behaviour - they even came home at 11:30 last night, probably helped by the fact that Borussia Dortmund lost in the first leg.I think....0 -

Yes, even that Beeney-double your money house near to me has now sold. And at a stupid price.
Glad the Germans are towing the line. Had to read that twice, first time I thought that they were apologising for keeping interest rates low!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Some scroat made a major scratch on our bumper probably this morning and drove off. Luckily it is the old car so doesn't really matter but still - how hard is it to drive down the road without hitting a parked car and driving off
same happened to me about 2 weeks ago but a lot more than a scratch. I heard the crash outside at around 11pm and thought the neighbours had dropped something. Next morning saw the car had been crashed into. Silly alarm didn't even go off.
Cost £500 to fix reported to the police but didn't bother with the insurance as I was not sure what they do in those cases.0 -
Back after going AWOL to Twitter to try get my Petition signed... It's now up to 2262 sigs, which is a long way from the 10,000 I need to get a response from the government.
Oh well, at least I've increased my Twitter followers from about 200 to over 800. And I've had some fun too.
Just to remind you, and begging you to sign if you haven't already, my petition for Toilets for Claimants is here.
Any of us can lose our jobs or become sick and/or disabled. The whole point about my petition is for human dignity, which obviously is lacking.
Sorry, didn't mean to be preachy!
Had a lovely evening out in the garden yesterday in the late sunshine. Finished pruning black currant bush. Apparently wrong time of year to do it, but it was all over the place and I didn't think the netting we have would fit over it later in the year.
OH planted the spuds at the lottie yesterday too. Frogspawn in pond has hatched, so we have tadpoles.
Will try do some catch up - only done a couple of pages thus far.0 -
Aaargh.
Sucker punch in extra time
There wasn't much in the game, but the Reds need to win well now in the return leg.
We shall be there! YNWA0 -
