Indeedy - now the wind's dropping too it's quite pleasant out there.

Since we've got more rain forecast and my water butts were completely full I've been decanting some of the water into four cheap dustbins that I bought with the intention of growing stuff in them either this year or next. I can dunk the watering cans in to fill them, don't need a hose outlet.

Good job I didn't drill drainage holes in all the bins as soon as I got them, only the ones I have actually planted stuff in ;)

Are there a lot of steam locos there, Pyxis? IIRC that was a big thing back in the day. They were preparing for electricity being cut off if they were invaded or attacked.

    Not that I'm aware of.
In fact we were told of the line from Trieste that was steam, but Mussolini pulled up the tracks. The place where the line was is now is a 300 km cycle-walking track!

Ps. The thunderstorm was supposed to be at 4o'clock, which was why we were unprepared. The lightning was fun, but the rain hit us just as we were due to leave the restaurant.

There was one at Zagreb station back in the 80s. It was in perfect condition and was kept that way due to paranoia that Russia (or the Warsaw Pact) might invade them.

I was travelling from Greece to Germany and stopped over for a while. I had changed about £20 and ended up with 880,000 dinars to spend (they had hyperinflation back then and there were workers with pricing guns going round the shops repricing goods before you could get them off the shelves). At the time you got thousands of lira for the pound and hundreds of drachmas.

Not sure it's quite like that now! But I bet you'll have good value, and the country looked beautiful. Enjoy your holiday. If you google Rough Guide Ljubljana you'll see what it was like when I was there.

Oh right........I'm on the peninsular which is quite a way.. This region has its own identity, not quite the status of Wales, say, perhaps more like Cornwall. It's very Italian, even more so than the rest.
It was only released from Italy after WWII, and Italian is still an official second language.
The waitresses keep talking to us in German! Hahahahahahaha! Quite good practice, even if I am so very rusty!

I've not been on holidays/abroad, nor am I ever likely to go (unless I win the lottery).

A man prays to God: "Why don't I ever win the lottery, despite praying for a big win every week? Why are my prayers not answered?"
A voice comes down from Heaven: "Meet me halfway on this. At least, buy a ticket!"
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Message for Pastures... Next Thurs at Aldi the special buys have loads of reasonably priced each/coast themed household items...pictures, cushions duvet covers etc.

I think you mentioned that you were looking for this sort of stuff so wanted to flag up. I had a look at the coastal stuff at Sainsburys, but these look much more reasonably priced.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
