Was the Mutt a rescue dog, an older one?
    :A

I often think that my next dog might be an older one. It'll deffo be a rescue job.

From what I remember GDB rescued it from MIL's home when MIL passed away.

Re Doglet. MIL was living with GDB in her final months and Doglet was MIL's dog.... so it was an inheritance.

That means it's probably doubly tough this weekend for Mrs GDB as it's a lost connection to her mother.

GDB's not the most tactful of people.... I do hope he remembers this and counts to 10 before answering any "trick questions".

We've had Doglet for over 3 years now!

MIL got Doglet from Battersea. So, she was 'rescued' twice.

    Thanks for the advice. :)

As a fellow dog-"owner", GDB, I'm sorry about the news and feel for you right now. :(

You looked after her and did well by her. Remember this.

I love it when people drive miles to fill up at the cheapest filling station - but forget that they've spent more in extra burnt fuel than the saving they made in replacing it ;)

Our cheapest petrol is at a supermarket a few miles out of my route home from work. It's only worth going there if I synchronise it with the right bargains they do, the timing of their yellow - stickered bakery products, and recycling our household rubbish since our borough recently brought in a baroque, baffling, intermittent, and, to some extent, undelivered waste collection system. :o

My cheap Sainsbury petrol place used to be virtually on my route to AmDram, but since we changed our venue, it isn't, so I only go there if it coincides with somewhere else I'm going to nearby and I'm low on petrol. I hate filling up, so only do it if I'm low on petrol and then I fill the tank full.

Plus I haven't had any fuel vouchers from Sainsbury's for ages. That used to make it worthwhile a small detour. They seem to have stopped doing them, though.

What's annoying is that there is a Tesco petrol station on my route, but I refuse to use it as I won't give Tesco my money, and years ago, before I started boycotting them, their petrol messed up my previous car on a couple of occasions.

I'm intrigued by this baroque and baffling waste collection service of yours, and also why it should affect your visits to the petrol supermarket!

My cheapest, at Grizebeck, adds about 2 miles to my journey to or from Ambleside - where I do go quite often since it has a decent garden centre and is also on the way to many other places - so it's no great additional cost to make the diversion when I know I could do with filling up, especially at up to 3ppl cheaper than anywhere else other than the supermarkets in Barrow, which would be a 50 mile round trip.

However, if I do fill up at Grizeback, I much prefer to do so on the way home because if I do so on the way out, I have a huge hill to drive up which absolutely kills my fuel consumption for that tankful - it's not unknown for just that first three miles or so to knock over 2mpg off my average consumption for that entire tankful !!!

10kwh our typical daily usage for 40 miles costs £1 if we pay for the leccy or £0 if we plug in between 11 and 5 when the solar panels are generating so I spend a lot of time trying to make sure dw does plug in in the day to save those few pennies.....
    I think....
