On a personal note and as the originator of this thread, I would just like to say farewell to V19 on it's final day.

It's been a plucky little tariff coming out of nowhere on the 22nd of January, hot on the heels of V17 and V18, and it's been a strong contender right to the finish. At first it seemed like it could only last until the 4th February but it managed to stand firm through to the 8th. Then, just when we thought it was all over, V19 won an extra day, and so ends, finally, on today the 9th.

Although I myself was on it for less than one day, I very much enjoyed my time on it and wish it well now it is being retired from frontline duty.

Never, in the field of energy provision, has one tariff caused so much confusion, to so many, for so long.

    Here's to you V19

Wonderful though it is for us E.ON customers to have the heroic trio of Malc, Helena and Amy to act as our guardian angels and help us sort out our problems with E.ON if any arise, the unfortunate but inescapable fact is that both Malc and Helena have been profoundly irresponsible in making perpetual and misleading references to E.ON’s v19 Tariff “ending” imminently.

E.ON’s v19 Tariff, if it could speak, would probably invoke the words of Mark Twain, who, upon being told in London that his obituary had been published in a New York newspaper, observed wryly that. “The report of my death was an exaggeration.”

E.ON’s v19 Tariff is not going to “end’ tonight. Nor will it end tomorrow. Nor, indeed, will it end at any time at all in 2016. At midnight tonight it will simply cease to remain available to new applicants for it, be they within or outwith E.ON’s current customer base.

It won’t, like Twain, survive for another thirteen years but for those (like I) who Forward-Fixed on to it last week it will certainly live on for another thirteen months.

E.ON’s v19 Tariff will only end when the last remaining fix on it expires, which will take place sometime in February or March of 2017.

By promulgating carelessly, repeatedly and incorrectly, that the v19 Tariff was going to “end” this week, Malc and Helena have caused much confusion among both E.ON’s existing customers and its prospective customers alike.

Potential new customers for E.ON will have been deterred from applying for it and the less knowledgeable and less in command of their mental faculties who have already been placed on it for a year will have been frightened into the belief that their newly obtained 12 month fix is suddenly going to be “ended” and that they are about to be turfed out on to E.ON’s prodigiously expensive Standard Variable Tariff tomorrow.

For pity’s sake, Malc and Helena, word your postings more carefully in future. Slovenliness, carelessness and inaccuracy are (along with illiteracy) par for the course among the majority of those who post on the MSE forum but accredited representatives of major utility companies have a duty to get their facts right and to express them without ambiguity. You are, after all, being paid to do so.

I hope, if all this sounds harsh, that you will never think that we are anything less than totally appreciative and thankful for you. We love you and you are a major factor in the desire of many (including me) to remain with E.ON for as long as it remains economically justifiable to do so, even if E.ON is not the cheapest. (Feel free to feedback that to anyone at E.ON who ever doubts your tremendous value to the company.)

IMO, in the context of this thread, it is perfectly clear that the Eon reps mean that the v19 tariff will not be available for new customers.

However, 'the less knowledgeable and less in command of their mental faculties who have already been placed on it for a year' who happen to read this thread will no doubt be grateful for your post.
  • Oh no I signed up for it 2 days ago and only expected it to last for 2 days !!!!!!!!
Where the heck is 20 anyway ?
They keep saying there extending 19 as it is such a great deal.
Suggests that 20 will by definition be crap.
    All misleading of course.

I have to come clean and say that I am as guilty as the E.ON reps in the use of the words "end" and "ending" and apologise to anyone if I have misled them, in any way, into thinking, regardless of the command they may, or may not have, of their mental faculties, that V19 would no longer exist at all, from midnight tonight. :o

Other words or phrases other than "end" or "ending" could possibly have been used in the various threads where V19 has been mentioned, so should anyone see the likes of:

"This tariff is no more" or "It has ceased to be" or "THIS IS AN EX-TARIFF"

in any post regarding V19, please just ignore them (especially posts by M.Python).

to E.ON rep , i am due to move to EON the V19 , around the 25th of this month.

Am i able to ring up before i move over and ask to be put on the V20 ( only if this is cheaper of course :)), from the date i go active, or do i need to wait to be active before i can switch tariff?

    many thanks
  • Speaking of Parrots....would it be more accurate to say V20 will supercede V19? Nothing succeeds like a toothless budgie

...anyhow...are the unit rates out for v20 please?

Unless there is a last minute reprieve v19 will cease to be available to new customers from midnight tonight (9Feb), the new version 20 tariffs should be available on E-on site and other comparison sites tomorrow.( so I have been told!!), but as this thread demonstrated things seem to change rapidly.

    I'll keep my eyes peeled

As an existing Eon customer....and lets for argument say V20 comes out with a £30 cashback on the energy club and the tariff regardless is cheaper then would it work if I switched via the energy club and get £30 too?

I think I did this a while ago but I can't recall exactly

With v19 £60 penalty for me to leave eon this could make staying a deal breaker if the penalty is avoided

    Thanks...Mike
