    Silly me. :o

Actually, thinking about it - I have a very healthy relationship with food. ;)

Never heard of Heron foods so I assume it's a regional store?

That's Herod, or is it Harrods?

Surely this should be in the Arms or the "Food Shopping" boards?

I find it disturbing that some people have the idea that they are physically related to their food!

Well, after making myself look very silly replying to your post :o I have to thank you. :T
I had no idea the 'food shopping' board existed.

    There's even a thread about Heron Foods/Farmfoods.
  • So, you need 17,500 calories for £3, that's a budget of 17p per 1000kcal. The only foodstuffs that I've found that come in under that are flour, sugar, cooking oil and pasta. Yum yum.

Luckily the £3 mentioned in the TV programme was to cover just 5 snacks during the week and some here thought it meant buying 5 lunches at work or for work. It's certainly not enough money for 21 meals.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

The first post definitely said the £3 had to cover a week's lunches. Most people interpreted that as being a working week, so 5 packed lunches at 60p each, which is easily doable.

I know the OP stated the £3 was for lunches but I think in the tv programme it was actually meant just for snacks as Fizz also gave Tyrone a sandwich box containing meat paste sandwiches, poor beggar :rotfl:

But, as many of us have successfully demonstrated in this read, it is actually possible to have nutritionally sound and filling lunches for just £3 per (working) week!

I just re-watched the programme and she didn't actually say what the £3 was for, but it had to last him all week.
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

I think the point being made was he was used to buying fish & chips for lunch, which must cost around £5 a day, so they were demonstrating the contrast of him "tightening the belt" by eating paste sandwiches plus a few quid to buy snacks, whilst his workmate continued to buy the expensive fish & chips.
