Tesco had 4 tins of Branston beans for 64p add a loaf should do a week for £1.50
With a bit of luck get a Waitrose reduced cooked Chicken on a Sunday £1.99 and a loaf, easy stretch to 5 sarnies, 10 if a bit mean on each one.
If going down the noodles route the asian especialy Korean instant are really tasty around 50p for the larger sizes around 100gm.0 -

I love it on both corned beef hash and shepherds/cottage pie. Always add some during cooking too. Oh and cheese on toast! Add a splash or two before popping under the grill :drool:0 -

Wouldn't you need to eat the reduced cooked chicken the same day maybe the next day? I don't think it would last 5 days....6 days if you count the day of purchase. If you were to freeze it wouldn't it have to be eaten immediately rather than reheated and kept for 4 hours until lunch.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

But he did appreciate my organisational skills (which I freely admit can border on obsessive).
And I am retired so have the time to be organised.
If you have a large freezer, you can designate separate drawers for food.
I have one drawer with just raw meat in, another with my blocks of bol etc.
I do sometimes go off track, especially if I've done a big batch cook or managed a bumper yellow sticker shop, but always get sorted out again.
Depending on the size of your freezer and family, this may save you money:
instead of buying a pack of mince - say 400gm - and using it all or putting it in the freezer, I buy multi packs then split them into 340gm - 12oz - which is enough for us for a meal and freeze them.
The 60gm x 4 left over from 4 x 400gm pack will make 2 burgers so instead of getting 4 meals out of 4 packs, you get 5.
Burgers are easy to make - and you know exactly what goes into them.
I buy several large joints of beef when on offer and cut them up myself.
Slices for braising, then really good chunks for stroganoff or goulash, then OK stuff for stews and the smaller scraps for pies.0 -

£50 46 weeks £2300, even after paying for alternatives thats a nice holiday.
If more people normalized spends on an annual basis they would see what their money could be doing for them.
Shop lunch or a holiday you choose.0 -

Cheaper than £1 might be doable in Home Bargains/B&M or when they're on offer in the major supermarkets.getmore4less wrote: »Tesco had 4 tins of Branston beans for 64p add a loaf should do a week for £1.50
The 4 x 410gm are currently on half price offer at £1.27 instead of £2.55.0 -
I always buy a Boots O2 Meal Deal on a Monday and pay £1 for a sandwich, crisps and a drink. Luckily for me Boots is within walking distance. I then get 80p cashback from Checkoutsmart (app on phone) by making sure the inclusive drink is an Irn-Bru. I then get 4p worth of points which I then spend on essential toiletries reducing my weekly spend on groceries.
The meals therefore cost me an additional 16p.
I have 5 smart phones with the O2 priority app and Checkoutsmart app so could buy 5 of them on a Monday. I could then freeze the other 4 sandwiches that I don't eat on the Monday.
Total cost for week 80p.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
