A different address on that amazon ad you gave me; Empress Mills, Empress Street, Colne, BB8 9HU- which comes up on google maps as- VAPEZE e cigarettes wholesaler

I doubt i'm going to get anywhere with this :(

And the address on that Hong Kong ebay seller's item is also in Burnley but the postcode is BB10 4ED - which is a residential street without the word 'mill' in it. ;)

You paid PU leather prices and got PU leather. When it arrived, didn't you check for the leather smell and notice its absence? That was the time to claim a refund.

I once paid for a cheap leather phone case. It turned up, it wasn't leather. I then noticed the term 'pu leather' hidden in the description. I thereafter checked more carefully before buying and usually there is PU or bonded leather somewhere..,and the price is usually a give away. Real leather costs more.

I see so many things with the title 'genuine leather' on ebay, but really cheap until you see PU or bonded or Faux hidden away in the description somewhere. I remember I had a go at one seller and he just said 'how did you expect to get leather for that price?' which is true. So many people burn for a bargain, they forget that you usually get what you pay for. It doesn't make the incorrect title right, but if you look at an ad with a sceptical eye, rather than 'I want to get a bargain gullibility' you won't get conned so easily.

Because of the difficulty I am experiencing in buying a replacement genuine leather sofa, I am actually going to recover mine. I've paid £70 for the leather (a whole skin), £80 for an old singer sewing machine that can cope with leather and I'll give it a good go. It will be better than it was before I started (as only the top of the cushion is leather, the sides are faux leather and have split, but I did know this when I bought it). Its better than paying near £1k for a genuine leather sofa.

was expecting this type of post to come along.

    As said above i was aware it was cheaper 'leather' or so the seller says. thats not the issue. the issue is;

1)The goods have not lasted a reasonable length of time (i dont consider 12 months to be reasonable even for a set costing £450
2)The company is not a company and are uncontactable, with a string of different fake addresses,no name, therefore nowhere to pursue a claim
3)The seller is still selling to other people claiming the set to be '100% genuine leather which is illegal

  • So you knew it wasn't real leather and expected it to last longer than PU leather lasts? A year is about right.

You did know what you were paying for, you've said that, whatever the ad said in the title. You can't prosecute as you say.., so I'm not sure what your aim is?

    According to who?

At no point was i told it was a PU sofa. It was sold as bonded leather. I never once saw 'pu' in any of the description. It is clear from the peeling and the texture now that it has peeled it is nothing but plastic

If the seller was honest why are they selling on various outlets giving multiple fake addresses, dont respond to calls/emails. On their website they claim the product is 100% genuine leather and there is no mention of PU/BONDED at all

Bonded "leather" is no better than PU and suffers from the same symptoms as you are seeing on the stuff you purchased. No one should be allowed use the term leather for anything made with any of these rubbish materials.

Rubbish.... I have just replaced a pu leather corner sofa from our conservatory, it lasted 9 years with hardly a mark on it...
The seller is advertising the sofa in question as 100% leather and while some people may realize straight off that it wasn't genuine others may not especially if they have never owned a genuine leather sofa before.

Op it looks like you are going to struggle getting anything back from this obviously dubious company... Leaving appropriate reviews and maybe contacting Trading Standards maybe your only recompense.
