    Remember that last SOA only balanced because you took the hire car off and did not add the costs to run two cars.

    Thing is Debt busting goes through phases, there is that initial rush when you can find things to change every day but you soon run out of those then some things take longer thats just the way they are, your two at the moment are the car and the house these can take weeks rather than days, it can be frustrating when things were changing rapidly to come to a grinding halt because ther car and house you need are not there but it is a waiting game they will come just need to hope they come in time.

    The thing to do when this happens is to step back and focus on the bigger picture, in your case it is how much money do we really have to play with, not some fantasy plucked out of the air gross numbers that hubby keeps coming up with but real hard £pm in your pockets.

    Then some plans of what to do with that money.

    hubby should allready be generating around £8kpm and at £150k that will rise to at least £9.5k

    throw in the £50k gross you now need to earn to make that £200k thats another £3kpm minium depending how you pay yourselves you could have £13k/£14k per month coming in

    Get your budget down to £5k + rent and your CC debts are gone in less than 6 months.

    Don't Quit
    by
    John Greenleaf Whittier

    When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
    When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
    When the funds are low and the debts are high
    And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
    When care is pressing you down a bit,
    Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
    Life is strange with its twists and turns
    As every one of us sometimes learns
    And many a failure comes about
    When he might have won had he stuck it out;
    Don't give up though the pace seems slow—
    You may succeed with another blow.
    Success is failure turned inside out—
    The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
    And you never can tell just how close you are,
    It may be near when it seems so far;
    So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit—
    It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

    Morning!! Can't stop but will do later to answer and comment on all your wonderful posts. Have read them quickly and thank you!!!! Welshlady - you made me cry!! I've only had a few hours of sleep as son started throwing up with a sick bug at 4.30am!!! He's currently lying on the sofa looking dreadful. Feel so sorry for him as we haven't done anything this half term and we promised we would take them all swimming today (that was what we were going to do with their grandparent's money - rest was going to go in a family fun pot I have set up). We might get crash helmets for them for their bikes - we have put this off for months and months as they're quite expensive. Even before I started tracking our finances I put it off.

    Getmore - I won't be working from home so that is something I don't have to worry about. As for OH, I got it wrong - final details haven't been totally decided but it's going to be about £150 more a day. It's pointless focusing on that though at the moment until we know more. And my maths is dreadful - haven't liked to question OH much on how much more it will bring in as I am aware that I am not bringing in a penny yet.

    Thanks for your lovely words. Today is going to be better day. My lounge is currently taken up with four hours of ironing!!! Need to wade my way through and go and get something to eat. Haven't had anything to eat yet as I have been sitting with son for hours. Will never go to shopping centres again! We went to the same shopping centre a few months ago and all came down with the Norovirus. He didn't want to go yesterday as it was the last time we went when we were struck and I told him lightning never struck the same place twice. Had to go though as they haven't had new school shoes since last April. Having said that, turns out we have bought exactly the same pair of shoes and exactly the same size. Can't believe his feet haven't changed whatsoever since last Easter!!!! Obviously don't feed him enough ; )) Am going to take them back for a refund.

    My point was the extra should go to sorting out debt and tax not more living expenses which seems to be the direction hubby is going.

    I am following your journey and wish you all the best. Everyone has different circumstances and different ways of doing things. You have to do what is right for your family. I have been slightly perturbed at what I perceive the tone of some of the messages you have been getting. There is a fine line when offering constructive support and I think some people have overstepped slightly.

    Your journey is interesting and there are lots of lessons in it. So keep posting and using the diary to help you on the road!

    Ooh bless you, I carried on reading and saw abut the house move - gutted. You had enough on your plate beforehand.

    Just a thought - you are getting an awful lot of financial advice on your thread, which is great, but perhaps a bit overwhelming and not always what you need. A suggestion - start a new thread when you've moved, talk a bit more about the day to day and use it for support. Financial advice is great - but not always what you need at the end of a bad day.

    Take care and keep going.
  • Morning Doobop. I do agree. Everyone has been so helpful but I was finding that writing on here was becoming yet another thing to dread. Which defeats the object. I just found I was spending too much time defending myself. Hugely busy at the moment so am going to take a break from here at the moment as it's not providing the release I was after. Be back soon when I'm in a better place.

    Hope you will be back - but I can see what you mean re having to defend your choices. You take care, perhaps join in one of the challenges thread or in old style there is a weekly flylady thread. Not so much about money, more about trying to get the house in order, but lots of support. Maybe something like that with less advise may help - especially whilst going through a move.
