  • Not been having much luck with any more NSD's. I had a very hectic and tiring day at work yesterday and I felt I needed cheering up, by buying food I don't have to cook. I popped in to Coop and found some great ys bargains. Broccoli with cheese sauce reduced from £1.29 to 59p but it came with a tear off 25p off coupon (I bought 5 packs which are now in the freezer). Yogurt corners x 4 for 69p, fruity yogurt with cereal topping for 29p. Full carrier bag came up to £1.09. As per rules I wouldn't have lost NSD's because they were all ys, but popped in to Heron foods and bought last night's dinner - lasagna and spinach and ricotta cannelloni and 2x McV lemon cake (they are not ys). DS1 ad DS2 took charge of the cooking while hubby and I put our feet up. It was our pre-Valentine treat. And only for less than £5. Because everybody felt it was a special night in, I don't feel very guilty about losing the NSD.

Like ccl, I have a lazy indoors day planned for me and the boys (DH is at work). We plan to do nothing.... Hopefully it will be an NSD, fingers crossed.

    Morning all,

ccl isn't it amazing what a difference it makes waking up and knowing you're on half term?!

Today I too will be mainly based at home, the ex should again be coming to take away his belongings. I will pop to aldee for a few bits as I'm really busy next week and today is quiet in comparison. I'm also hoping to go to the tip and get rid of anything that the ex decides he doesn't want (I'm anticipating that if it takes 8 months to collect the belongings you want, I've got little chance of him taking the items he doesn't want) and then I'll have a tidy and organised garage :) I also want to call at the tyre place as they do a free tyre check within 30 days of replacement.

Hope you all have a good productive and peaceful day :)

I am up to 6 NSDs now :D Today won't be as DH and I both have haircuts booked, we are taking DS to the fair and I need a couple of bits for the 2 week meal plan Mr S don't stock. Also DS will need some new school trousers and a pair of cheapish trainers for the weekends. He appears to have had a growth spurt and the posh joggers DMIL bought him for Christmas look like a pair of 3/4 leggings!

We don't celebrate valentine's at all here, never have.

How DH and DS have managed to get the house in such a mess while I have been away beats me and I am trying to get motivated to tidy up and clean :(

Another thing we are taking up as a family is a TV/internet/alcohol free Sunday evening. DH gets really stressed and anxious on a Sunday (for no reason) and sleeps better if we do this. I also feel more refreshed and ready for Monday and get more done.

Right must go put the bread maker on and start the tidying up (did the kitchen first thing). Will make some cheese scones too for lunch with a tin of soup for me. The boys can have sandwiches.

Our much reduced budget is working for us this month and we don't feel deprived at all. If we stick to it, even after buying DS clothes which we didn't plan to buy this month, we should be able to save an extra £50 which doesn't seem much but we had put so much in savings on the 1st we have lived on a lot less than usual this month so far.

    Congratulations Welshkitty :money:
  • Sorry not been on for a few days - have been absolutely shattered and going to bed early.

    Well done Welshkitty :T

We also do not celebrate Valentines Day - DH's father died on Valentines Day 20yrs ago so it does not seem right to celebrate on that day.
It is our anniversary in a few weeks so we celebrate then.

My local Asda had the wonky veg box - they only did 20 per store and all sold in less than an hour!! My neighbour's friend got one and the contents were worth about £5 if you brought perfectly shaped ones off the shelf.

I had a NSD on Thurs, but spent on Fri as the dog had chewed our last hairbrush so brought 3 new ones (only 89p each) and will make sure DD puts them away when she has finished plus I got a few other bits we needed.

Today has been a NSD so far and should stay like that, did have an emergency dental appt for DH who is in a lot of pain with a broken tooth and infected face. He paid the cost and the car parking came out of the change pot so not counting that as all part of the medical treatment.

I was hoping to go to the local Potato Day to get my spuds for planting but alas that went out of the window when DH got up and was in pain. Did save me spending though :rotfl: (always a silver lining!!)

Have a great weekend everyone and hope you are all thoroughly spoilt :happylove

Spendy day today but mainly as we bought paint to do the kitchen. It is one of my achievements for the week (as I am on holiday).
    :)

Happy half-term to you all, especially the teachery people.
    ;)

Not really much else to say, sorry.
    Hugs to you all.
