I confess that I laughed when dh showed me this and rather cynically said it was the supermarket cashing in on the veg it usually rejects becuause of it's 'non-standard' shape. And the supermarkets are the ones causing all the waste they talk about. So I looked no further into it. And admit that I may have jumped to the wrong conclusion... My dad grew a lot of veg so we grew up with all shapes and sizes.
I shall endeavour to be less cynical...:DNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Yesterday was a NSD and today should be one as well other than bus fare to get to training. That will take me to 7/16
My loan payment went out today so 74% now paid off :j
Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50

TOG - I hadn't heard of the wonky veg but checking out that link there are no stores near us. I don't care what shape my veg is and think the supermarkets are insane with the waste.
Bob - hope you manage to cope when everyone leaves, it must all be very frustrating for you.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Good luck Bob managing alone with baby Bob, scary when you not 100% fitting fit. Just don't overdo things. Easier said than done.
TOG there is never a right or wrong time to get house repairs done. I am just doing a little each month if I can. Hope however to get a holiday in this year no matter what.
Today will have a spend I need some more fittings for outside washing line. Paid 51.00 off my debt today, less than what I had planned but hey ho that's life. Robbed 30 pounds towards my window from my EF hope to make it up next 2 weeks.
Going for a lunchtime walk, seeing as its dry. Didn't sleep well if at all last night, still bunged up with cold. Gs been to Drs severe tonsilitius, stayed off school today, so Pj's and chill out evening planned.
TOG they showed the wonky veg on One show one night, looked good value, loads of it, unfortunately not in my area.
Mothernerd hope you had the rest you had planned if your really that tired.

Whether someone else will pamper you or whether you will be pampering yourself, take time out this weekend to do something special and different from what you would normally do (and cheap/free, of course!)
I bought some lovely roses from aldee today - a stunning orange colour - for £3 (fairtrade too), my neighbour gave me a box of chocs a few weeks ago that I've been saving, and at Christmas my secret santa gave me a bottle of prosecco. So we are sorted here!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Just a quick check in from me tonight to declare that I bagged another nsd today and that I have survived to half term.
Tomorrow's plans include not leaving the house at alland making a pompom valentines wreath for dh, and to be back on here and check in and catch up properly once I'm less tired.

Hi everyone!
SFD 9 here, but a bit of a mixed day. Started with a small business sale worth £12. Am due to be paid from proper job next week. Got my payslip today and it's £100 less than I was expecting. This means it's going to be a real struggle once I pay off the cc. Need to have a proper think about what I can do to juggle the budget. Got home to find the boiler broken. Landlord arranged for somebody to look at it but it can't be fixed today. The house is really cold so I have had to dig out the hot water bottles and extra blankets. Finished on a positive and have signed up to transfer DHs tax allowance to me whilst he is not working.
Off to bed now to try and keep warm. Night all!0 -
Weekend pamper- my sister sent me a lush bath bomb this week so I will get up Sunday morning while my parents are at church and have a long soak in the bath.
Spend day today, really struggled to think of what I wanted to eat, my errant graze box turned up today so I'm set for snacks for about a month.
New money day today, didn't manage to save any of last weeks budget, but birthdays etc to buy for and didn't go over my weekly budget for it.Credit card respend 2551.58 (15/02/17)0 -
Wow apple the weekend is looking a whole lot better.
Not going to claim a SFD as I did spend but once again mum reimbursed my (+ extra). Actually said I had done a lot of work for her. I nearly fell over.
All day bus ticket bought and off to the hovel today (after taking another sack to the charity bin - checked on Thursday am that it had been emptied and now hoping I can refill it by Monday). Packed one of the large boxes with baking stuff - there is still more of it. left that in the hall (labelled) for one of the people with cars to take. Also labelled the two carrier bags full of recipes (but they must be culled).
Came back home briefly - enough time to change rucksacks and load up with things to go to the bungalow. Did a small sewing job. Fitted the new ironing board cover - the one I bought 3 weeks ago. G-d who does most of the housework (they pay her) keeps taking things home to iron rather than put the thing on. Tried to move the curtain I made last week but need a longer wire or thin rod. Partner's five children and some of the grandchildren are all visiting regularly but I seem to be the only one doing any of the jobs that need doing.
Mum's partner (he has Alzheimer's) keeps taking things to wear out of the wardrobe but no longer sees a difference between his and mum's so have moved all his clothes into the wardrobes in the bedroom and all mum's clothes into the cupboards in the spare room - filled another bag for the charity shop. We kept finding more of her partner's things - two carrier bags of brand new socks and 5 unworn pairs of slippers, then found a bag full of new sports socks later.
In between I made tea, administered medicines and eye-drops (mum's cataract op was done yesterday), folded all the summer clothes and put them away in a bed drawer.
Mum asked if I wanted a taxi, whenever I was thinking of going home and I said "About 3 hours ago actually but it didn't work out". Brought sack and a carrier bag for cs home with me, plus more bits for people at church (dancing shoes/ 2 swimming costumes) plus another set of curtains which I am going to shorten at home.
My doing something different is a bit tame today. I was thinking of renting a film from the library (may do it this weekend) but didn't get back until hours after closing. Did a little shop and bought a puzzle magazine. I was given money for this at Christmas but have stiil been doing puzzles from the November book (16 x 16 sudokus, 25s as well). The mag I chose today is one I used to get fairly regularly with a variety of puzzles, some simple, some more interesting but I thought it would be a quick and easy way to unwind.
Will feel less stressed when I have done everything that needs doing at the hovel. Will then try to go to the bungalow once a week and do what tasks I can whilst I am there (still trying to avoid the times the more annoying of partner's relations are there). Hopefully only one or two trips left to do.
Today I am grateful for time spent with a two year old, for being able to tick things off my list (jobs, items distributed to where they can do most good - took another bag of 'tombola' items as well) and for the taxi home. last bus back goes at about 5pm and still worried about that bridge - hopefully in a few more weeks I will be skipping over it.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Morning all
Checking in early after a better sleep and feeling brighter because it's the beginning of half term.
Today's plans include, not leaving the house; doing a little bit of housework; sorting out £land Valentine's gifts for dh; sorting out my wool stash; looking for a watch (the battery is flat on mine and need a replacement until I get off my bum and replace it); meal planning for the week ahead; budgeting and relaxing. I am surprised at how excited I feel about the idea of being indoors all day - I would never have gone for that 10 years ago :rotfl:
I will be spending time on here, so expect more from me than usualNot giving up
