So... who's done the school run in pyjamas?

I have a friend does the school run in her pjs.. she works nights in a nursing home, gets home at 7am on a good day, covered in Lord knows what having handled bodily waste and dead people some nights, showers, puts on clean PJ's takes her children to school, then sleeps all day... Why would school staff know any of that?
That's quite pathetic TBH
She's making a deliberate choice to change into them to do the school run - where a t-shirt or jumper and leggings or track suit bottoms would do the job just as well and teach her kids there is a time and a place for what you wear. Parents bang on about wanting their kids to have uniforms that are cheap, smart and practical - and then rock up themselves in PJs .
How long would it take your friend to change into PJs once she was back from school ? Seconds . If after a shower she's that grubby that clothes worn for a short school run have to all be rewashed she probably isn't showering properly after work.
I wonder how people would feel if their doctor wore PJs to work -or teachers..................I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Scrubs are basically PJs, and doctors do sleep in them when they're on call!0

Maybe PJs are a SAHM statement and are saying "I don't need to be up and suited and booted as I am the mistress of my own destiny and not a mere wage slave like you working Mums"
Maybe that would explain why the PJs are all patterned and loud rather than plain and discreet- It's a statement of social status not just slobbishness !!!
(or maybe not)

I have done it, but at my daughters then school, parents did not leave the car, it was drop off only and I always wore a jacket, coat or hoodie over the pjs
Mind you, I live in Northern Ireland, and I was stopped by an army checkpoint once and asked to step out of the vehicle and open the boot!!0 -

But do they wear them for the school run ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Personally my feeling is - there's plenty of PJs that look like leisure suits rather than actual PJs -if you really can't get ready in time - buy plain dark PJs not ones with fluffy bunnies on them and odds are no-one will even notice ! Plain PJs with a pair of Uggs and a jacket over- and most people wouldn't even realize. (take the rollers out though !!)
I definitely agree with this bit! No need for what you're wearing to be conspicuous.
Very similarly, within the space of six weeks (many years ago) I split up from my husband - after a very unhappy time in our lives, not surprisingly - and started work for the first time since my children were born, and at the same time my mother became very ill in hospital and eventually died. During this time, every day I had to take the children to school, get the bus to work, get the bus back from work to fetch the children, get the bus with the children to the hospital to visit my mother, take the children home again on the bus, get them fed, bathed and to bed, look after a dog and two cats and the house, then start the whole process the next day. If anything, it was probably managing to keep us all clean and tidy and putting on a brave face that kept me sane(ish).
A close friend’s flatmate is a care worker, and quite often goes from a night shift to a day shift (different agencies) with only time to shower, change and (if he’s lucky) gulp down breakfast, but he always looks decent.Life is mainly froth and bubble

Never. Even on days when I'm running a bit late I always fling a skirt and jumper on. How long does it take.. 2 minutes?
I think a lot of these yummy-mummy types are wearing their 'loungewear' as a kind of statement. They probably think they look good in them.left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

Looks decent, but is probably completely unsafe to be caring for vulnerable people or driving.

They don't give a toss.. they don't care.
Children only care about such trivia if they are told they should. This is why children don't care what race or religion people are they just see people.. because it is irrelevant.
They see they have a mum that escaped a crappy marriage, works damn hard to provide for her family, the sacrifices she has made for them.. they are not that self centred to think that what their mother wears for 5 minutes is who or what she is. There are more important things.. that they see how hard she works, how much she loves them and that kindness and love is way more important than anything else. I would so much rather spend time with people who see beyond the superficialness of an appearance, a façade and saw the nice people underneath.
I'm probably known as the woman with the crazy hats.. but the hats do not define the type of person I am.. they keep my head warm (and hide my unbrushed hair pmsl) .. If you are going to judge someone by what they wear then I don't want to be acquainted with you anyway.
The snooty teacher may as well say 'leather clad biker' parents look like thugs, we don't want their type here, 'tracksuit parents' are chavs and we don't want them either.. and we can always raise the Muslim parents with their scarves, there is more than enough in the media to feed that prejudice at the moment.. School is the absolute last place there should be discrimination and prejudice, I'd have serious concerns about what the staff were saying to the children behind closed doors if they get away with this publicly.
I wish it was the school my children were at, I would make a flamboyant performance of taking the mickey.. pj's, leotards, chicken suit (because I have always wanted an excuse) wedding dress, wetsuit and snorkel... I'd have a field day!

I didn't say he was driving, and he may be very tired, but is still alert and capable of doing his job. It isn't a great way to live, and he does it (not every day, of course) because he hasn't a lot of choice.
He would be no more and no less safe if he went around in his pyjamas, but he certainly looks a lot more presentable.Life is mainly froth and bubble
