What is this strange road where only one car can travel at a time and there is no possibility of stopping and allowing someone else to pass? Is it a long rickety bridge or something?
For the record, I drive like an old lady but I always let someone pass if they're obviously trying to overtake. You don't know, they might be having an emergency of some kind.
It's very possible that country lanes have these strange things on the tarmac;
even when it's dark, they tend to mean something along the lines of 'Don't Be So Daft'.
They're not that unusual - and a lot don't even have centre markings because the lanes are too narrow even when the hedgerows have been cut back.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

That is exactly like the road I was on thank you. Cars coming in the opposite direction full beam on as well, in the pitch black, so I couldn't have my main beam on.
I picked my daughter up whose boyfriend had just passed her test and they are so sensible compared with idiots bullying other drivers.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -

But on an unlit road you don't know, with double white lines in the middle, I am able to imagine that it isn't always easy to find a suitable place to pull over. That's all I'm saying - with the best will in the world, sometimes it isn't instantly possible and someone tail gating for the sake of a few miles mild inconvenience, is dangerous driving.
And yes, I have been held up by slow drivers and it is very irritating. But really, it's rarely for longer than 5 minutes of your life.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out if a car is caught behind you, you are slowing them down, so you should pull over and let them pass.
Such arrogance.
Do you know what is round the next bend, assuming that you are a local and know where the bends are, as well as the tightness of them?
Many of our road, classified B, are narrow in spite of being two way. Neither of the two I use regularly are safe to overtake, even if the car in front pulls in to the edge.
Edit to add: each of the above roads is a bus route too. Try razzing around a bend and you could meet one of those, albeit rare things after 6pm.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

My route from home is a long stretch of road with different speed limits. It goes 60-50-30-60-50-40-30. The speed limit signs are very visible, the roads are straight with no bends and it is all well lit.
My biggest pet peeve is people who drive in front of me at 40mph through all of the different zones.Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

op obviously it was an unfamiliar road, but what i do is just pull into a driveway or somewhere and let the idiots go past...let the fools have an accident, no sense pressuring you, just pull over and let them past then continue on....all the best0
