People pushing your speed in the dark

Happens to me a lot (I drive a slow and cumbersome van). Just indicate to pull over, stop and let the fast / impatient driver past.
Much better than being blinded by their headlights in the rear-view mirror.
Not worth getting upset over.0 -
Maybe they just want to get past you. How about letting them past, I drive in many single track roads and holiday time is a nightmare, though most people are not ignorant to other faster drivers who know the roads and pull over.0

I do love a good pusher. The last pusher ended up paying me £6k via their insurance company and presumably spent the next few years paying for their impatience via their premiums.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

They are trying to achieve the speed limit.
You can be fined if you are driving too slow and deemed to pose a risk to other road users.
I was going as fast as I deemed safe given the circumstances. The road wasn't lit and so I would say 50 limit in an ideal environment, ir the day time with no rain.
In any circumstances distracting the driver in front is dangerous imo.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
One of my bug bears. There isn't always space to pull over and just because you know the roads backwards doesn't mean I do! I do get annoyed when people drive slowly in good conditions but some common sense at other times wouldn't go amiss.Current debt: M&S £0(£2K) , Tesco £0 (£1.5K), Car loan 6K (paid off!) When I was learning to drive my instructor told me that speed limits are only a guide. Example just because the speed limit says 50 that doesn't mean you have to make sure you're driving at that speed. He actually said it means up to 50.
I don't know if any instructors on here can confirm if that's true or not, but that's what I was told. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -

Its not a back road there's nowhere to pull over. If I look at it differently, I know the unlit roads round my village really well but don't feel irritated by those who don't.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -

My instructor said similar (passed about a year ago), there is a road not too far thats national so 60, but its very winding. On most roads he nagged me to go faster and be on the speed limit. He let me attempt it fast then asked me how comfortable I felt, which wasn't very! He said although on most roads I want to be doing as close to the speed limit as possible on some of those windy country roads it isn't safe. He also said sharp bends shouldn't be taken in 4th gear or above (this road had sharp bends) so better to slow down in those conditions!
Dark and windy unfamiliar roads its better to be safe than sorry. Doing 40 in a 50 zone doesn't sound too bad for that condition! Obviously doing 40 on a 50 zone that's a well lit straight road would be silly.Trying to lose weight (13.5lb to go)0 -
I have no problem with how slow you want to go - as long as you're not holding me up. If you can't go at the allowed speed then please pull in and let me pass.
Having said that, I'd never flash or tailgate you. I imagine if someone drove like that behind me, I'd immediately pull in and let them go, in case they were having an emergency.
I travel a lot on mountain and coast roads with little opportunity to overtake, and it really gets my goat when someone crawls along and builds up a tail of six or ten cars.
And don't get me started on bikes... or motorhomes... and as for caravans being towed, well...
For those who routinely drive at 10 or 20 kph below the speed limit - WHY? I don't get it, it makes no sense to me.
Disclaimer: I live in a very touristy area where any journey in summer will take ages due to tourist drivers. I'm talking a 20 minute journey taking 45 mins and a 40 minute journey taking an hour and a half. Not to mention the times I've been stuck for up to an hour where a tourist is afraid to navigate past an oncoming car or cause a bottleneck because they apparently lack a splanc of sense.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Surely no matter how well you know the road, you have to be driving slowly enough to stop if you round the corner and find a tree or something in the middle of the road?0
