  • I have just cancelled a switch after seeing the Collective switch. I have confirmation from my company that the switch has been cancelled but when I try to use The Cheap Energy Club site to switch to them all I get is a greyed out box saying switch in progress. How do I get The Cheap Energy Club to unblock my entry.

Have looked at the latest offer from The Big Deal and they are cheaper than the MSE British Gas Collective Switch!

    The figures include VAT.
Gas 1.99p Standing Charge per day 15.10p

Electricity Day Rate 11.92p Night Rate 6.44p Standing Charge 11.83p

The prices are fixed until 31 October 2017.

Thanks - that's with Extra Energy (stand back for the usual deluge of complaints from others here who will hate they are so cheap!)

Looking at say the Eastern Region, the electricity is exactly the same as their FreshFixed Price Oct 2017 v1 which is open to all (and you can get cashback elsewhere on that!)

Only their gas is cheaper ... but check out seperate suppliers (which is not easy on that comparison site) - could save you even more :money:
(but probably only if you are a very low gas user - say 4000kWh p.a or less)

Hi I chose to switch to the British Gas deal yesterday.

Today when I log in to cheap energy club it says I have 2 switches in progress???

And further down the page it says I have 2 active applications in progress to Dual Fuel British Gas Collective fix Feb 2017.

I only did it once so don't know how this has occurred.

I am slightly concerned this may cause an issue with my switch, a case of computer says no, you know how it is.

    Hi Rockin_plumber

This shouldn't cause a problem, but let us know by emailing collectiveswitch@moneysavingexpert.com and we'll check your account.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Done this and you've rectified it.
    Thank You
  • Be careful, there is a possible sting-in-the-tail switching to British Gas.
I received my switching details from BG this morning, I am at present on a dual-fuel contract with E.On and paying £78 monthly direct debit, which has more than covered my energy usage.
However, British Gas have worked out my new monthly debit will be £100 !!!
Obviously, I will not agree to this rediculous price-hike, so will update BG very shortly.
Suggestion : Check the contract details, especially the " Working out your monthly payments " section !
  • @alvirum

The £100 in the email was just an example of how BG work out DD's, not the amount of your direct debit.

If you put your actual meter readings every month, that would be more accurate?

Because their electricity unit rate is more expensive (10.92 vs BG 8.537), the big deal estimate is £13 a year higher than BG.

I entered my current providers estimate into both CEC and big deal, when I was letting the comparison sites pick energy usage based on house size then the results were wildly different. I can't know which is going to be closer to reality. To get a perfectly accurate forecast you need to enter next years kwh usage, which is unfortunately impossible to predict.
