How to get a refund on prescription glasses from local opticians?

I think a lot of those posting on here don't wear glasses of if they do they are a mild prescription and they are still able to see to some extent without them.
When buying my glasses I also have never had anyone check with me what brand I have picked or ever had an order form to sign. It raises a good point and in future I will be checking as any customer could put glasses back in the wrong place so this really does need clarifying before purchase.
OP I would fight this, not necessarily on the wrong brand front but the fact you were not fully informed about the problem with the glasses strength. £400 is alot of money. How much do you pay for your contact lenses if I were you I would be taking by business for that elsewhere.0 -
iammumtoone - thank you for seeing the point I was trying to make. And yes I will fight it because i do feel strongly about it all. I pay about £20 per month for the contacts but I don't think they will care about that, I think they are digging their heels in now. but yes I will fight it and I will be very interested to see what the OCCS have to say too. It is a lesson learned, whatever the outcome, and I will not be staying there. in fact it has left such a bitter taste I can't even face going back in there should I be forced to0

You picked these jeans in a pile that was labeled Levis.
You then get home and realise that they are wranglers and there is nothing you can do about it.
If you are unable to read the small label and you specifically want that brand, I would ask someone to read the label for me.
I had to that not so long ago when I had left my glasses, not for a pair of jeans but it amounted to the same thing0 -
I didn't think I needed to ask anyone because I carefully picked from the Michael Kors display stand!!!!! naively, as it turns out, I thought that as a customer I could rely on that, otherwise why have the prominently headed display stands at all?0

Last I checked, not all jeans have branding on the outside and its not plastered all over the jeans, its only on a (in comparison to the size of the item) tiny label.
I guess the moral of the story is that if a certain feature/brand is important to you, then ensure what you're buying suits your needs. If its important enough to be a deal breaker, its important enough to spend time checking. You keep using that word. Even if they were in a pile of the brand you wanted?
I don't think the OP is that bothered about the brand as at the end of the day they did choose them so must have liked them, they were just a bit miffed about it on top of the main issue.
I also don't understand why people are not understanding that £400 is a lot of money on something that is not usable/needed. It wouldn't be so bad if the OP would wear the glasses out (as they could get the lenses changed and they still would have a nice new pair) BUT they wear contact lenses so the glasses will only be for occasional indoor use, worth paying £400 if its going to improve your eyesight indoors, but if the new glass are now going to be just that same as the old thats a lot of money to waste.0 -

My local optician do it for brand awareness - to make people aware of what brands they stock. If you ask them for a certain brand, they'll take you over and show you where that brand is. Its not uncommon for them to have 2 or 3 different brands in the same display - although their premises are small so I imagine that might have something to do with it.You keep using that word. Yay! at last someone gets it!0
