well I was never given any prescription and to be honest had I seen one I probably wouldn't have understood it anyway. so that's a third thing the opticians have failed to do correctly then.

    a. wrong frames in wrong display stand
    b. lenses are not wearable
    c. they never showed me anything in writing, never mentioned the brand name and never gave me my prescriptions

As I understand it they have to give you the prescription if you ask for it. I don't think they are obliged to volunteer it.

I saw the early part of this thread when it started but have not read the more recent pages. Have you had your eyes re-tested elsewhere to get an "expert" opinion on if your prescription is wrong or if the glasses have been incorrectly made?

An optical prescription is not particularly hard to understand. There are plenty of sites online that would help explain it or I'm sure any number of people on here who could tell you what it means. However, I'm not sure where that gets you.

Not done that yet as was going to wait and see what the OCCS had to say first. They will probably ask for that to be done I would guess

    .

They are legally obliged to issue you with a copy of your prescription or statement of results at the conclusion of your eye exam, whether you request it not.

To all those helpful people who allowed me to vent my frustration and anger all the way back in January about the horrible opticians I had gone to, I have finally got my full refund a whole 6 months later! They were particularly nasty and stubborn and the OCCS even said that if I took them to court I would probably win, although there were no guarantees. Throughout mediation with the OCCS the opticians still refused to refund me so I finally decided to take them to court. I sent them a Letter before Action last week and, hey presto, I received a cheque in the post today for the full refund. They clearly knew they didn't have a leg to stand on in a court of law and so relented. It was a whole lot of time and effort spent on emails and letters with them and the OCCS but the principle of it all made me carry on. I'm so glad it has ended this way and it might even teach them something about customer relations at which they are truly terrible!!!

I know, but I suspect that it started to feel personal to the owner! She dug her heels in and I think it became a matter of her not wanting to lose face or give in. It was probably only when she realised I meant it and would take them to court if they made me that she realised it just wasn't worth the time and the money and the effort and the possible negative affect on their reputation.
