BTW - if you have paid for the specs, they are your property and the practice has no right to return your lenses (unless you meant that they will return them to you).

  • what happened was when I went back for the retest and they offered weaker lenses (which I refused as I already have weaker glasses which do perfectly well) I told the optician I wanted a refund and she said she would have to speak to the owner to clear the refund, but she kept the glasses. so I walked out of the place with them keeping the glasses and my money. then I got an email from the owner saying she wouldn't give me a refund, only weaker lenses. I repeated that I already have weaker lenses so that wasn't an option in my mind and I must insist on a refund and she just said accept the offer by 4 feb or she will send the useless glasses back to me by special delivery. charming response

What is the difference between the weaker lenses the optician has offered and the lenses in your current glasses, you may still get better glasses.

the majority of the cost was the frames which most people agree was your error.

You say you didn't see a prescription, why not? I always get one and if I wasn't offered one I would want to see it to check how much my eyes have changed from year to year.

Just to add to that, it is a legal requirement to issue you with a copy of your prescription at the end of the eye exam.

  • well I was never given any prescription and to be honest had I seen one I probably wouldn't have understood it anyway. so that's a third thing the opticians have failed to do correctly then.

    a. wrong frames in wrong display stand
    b. lenses are not wearable
    c. they never showed me anything in writing, never mentioned the brand name and never gave me my prescriptions

You really need to let the frame thing go, it doesn't matter what brand was above the stand and who did or didn't say a brand name. You like the look and style of the frames, you liked the fit when you tried them on, the name written on them is not important, especially when that name is hidden inside the frames so no outwards logo for you to show off what brand they are.

You chose those frames and they are the frames you got.

I can understand your frustration with the rest of the situation but that point you really need to let go.

that made me smile. maybe I will play the Frozen 'Let it Go' song all weekend and try to do just that :)

(ps. but brand names can be important to us girls sometimes! oops - note to self: let it go)
