  • NSD for me today in the supermarket and the car passed its winter health check so got a clean inside and out for free! Also went to a beauty store free event tonight where I got snacks, drinks and 3 full size products + a bag for life all free and I arrived late (after 6pm) so the car park didn't charge! Success all round!

Hi all, looking for some inspiration for meals as I'm writing my Feb meal plan. We have pasta about once a week, and we like spag bolagnese, pesto etc but need some other ideas of what to serve with it.

  • NSD today for me ,in fact not even going over the doorstep. Its raining cats and dogs and blowing a hoolie so I shall stay by the fire with my feet up reading my library book.

I had scrambled eggs for breakfast,HM soup will be for lunch, and I dug out a small piece of steak for dinner tonight from the freezer and I'll have it with new potatoes and broccoli and some fresh fruit for pud.

I may take a slice of cake from the freezer to have with my afternoon cuppa. Just a generally lazy day today I think My DD has the day off from work so I don't even need to be there to look after my DGS after school.:):):)

January is almost over and I have a good bit left in my purse to go into the holiday account next week My new month starts next Monday :):):)

    Morning all,

I wrote off January, our finances were all over the place, but a new month = a new start!

Please can you put me down for £180.00? This is to run from January 27th to end of February.

Had a grocery shop delivered today and it came to £88.47. The freezers and pantry are now stocked up and with menu planning and weighing out food I am hopeful that I will come on in budget this time.

    Good Luck all.

  • Hi All,

I didn't quite manage our January GC budget but it was better than it had been for a while! Going for £200 in February, that's from 25th Jan -24th Feb. For x2 adults and a 1.5 year old.

Ordered chicken breasts from Muscle Food so already dipped into the budget by about £28 (inc. delivery). 12 portions of x2 chicken breasts though so that should last a few weeks!

The children love Options orange hot chocolate but it's £3.49 per week I would rather not spend. I haven't found a cheaper orange flavour yet and as they have a cup before bed I don't want to just stop buying it so I need to think about alternatives.

    :o

Have you tried a cheap hot choc powder with a chunk of orange chocolate added? Just one square per cup should be enough. :) The Sainsburys basics or Aldi own brand hot choc are both quite tasty and cheap for a big pot. Just buy an own brand orange chocolate bar, or terry choc orange are often on offer at £1 each, 1 segment would be plenty in a cup with the hot choc. Or look for an Orange Flavouring Oil or Orange Essence and add just a drop to a cup of hot choc.

I would like to re-join for feb if I can. Going to go for £250 for the month. Started on Monday 24th, ending 21st Feb. Have spend £72 from budget so far. This is family of 4, including nappies for youngest.

Hi everyone :hello: and welcome to all the new people and those who are returning. Hope you get your spending down if only a little bit.

Still over on the January thread and should manage to come slightly under (famous last words) For Feb can I go for £200 please. I cook for 2 adults all meals and do 4/5 meals a week for mum. This includes all cleaning items and toiletries. I meal plan weekly but sometimes go off the plan because of illness that results in me wanting to eat much at all.

Please can I join this challenge - I have no idea what I spend for 2 adults and 2 cats a month.
So if I aim for £250 and see what the receipts add up to!
Supermarket shop arriving tomorrow night for £76 - not a great start.... But I should be able to reduce the store cupboards and freezer during the month.
February Grocery Challenge 262.50/250.00 - overspend - oh no!
