February 2016 Grocery Challenge

My budget starts tomorrow, have meal planned until the 29th Feb but budget runs until the 25th so 4 weeks. I shouldn't need to buy much meat as I still have loads from my butchers delivery at the end of December. Will have to buy fish, pasta, rice, bread, milk, sandwich fillers and fruit and veg through the month. I've just started a weight loss plan so will have to factor the additional fruit and veg needed into the budget. I'm going to see if I can get some YS veg for soups or buy the Aldee super six as that will save me some money and hopefully fill me up. Need to make a minestrone as I still have those pasta rings left.Grocery Challenge 2024

I'm rejoining this year if you'll have me?
I started last year but once I had my little boy, I found it hard to get back on top of things.
I go back to work in 2 months time so I need to get back to proper planning so that I can account for the decrease in my wages due to nursery vouchers. Plus, I need to rebuild the savings.
February total will be under £300How long til pay day?

Hi ZippyChick
Still on January's total, my February month will start on 01.02.16 after payday. Can I please go for £260? Might be a bit tight, but worth a go!3-6 month EF Challenge Member #19: £3590/£6000.[/B] Craft destash from 22.5.22: 46/200. Hi,
I would like to rejoin again please. I did this last year and it really helped me to reduce my waste. We moved house last year so I didnt have the to carry it on, but just started maternity leave so now I have the time to get back on track again. Baby due any day and I dont really have a figure in mind but will start with £250 and see how I get on. I'm not use to buying wipes and nappies etc. but I think I'm quite well stocked up for at least a few weeks if not more! this is for two adults, two children, a cat and a baby, to include all toiletries, cat food and cleaning products.Grocery challenge- feb 2015- £133.07/£2500 -
Hi all,
Our month started on the 25th and will run to the 25th Feb.
Spends so far are as follows:
Mon: £2.75 - needed some bits for sandwiches and also managed to grab a bag of YS frozen sausage that still have plenty of date but I'm assuming have been discontinued from the shop's range
Tues: £1.08 - managed to bag some YS coleslaw to go with dinner (which was also conveniently stretched to today's lunches) as well as some YS Maris Piper Potatoes which I will be using to make some HM chips
Wed: £2.50 - a bit of a naughty spend on a sausage sarnie on the way into work. Should have cooked what was bought on Monday and made it at home at a fraction of the cost but I was being lazy.
Overall, following the overspend in Jan, we're pretty well stocked up shouldn't need to spend much more this week.
Will update my signature and will keep you all updated on our progress for the monthJanuary Food Budget: £0/ £500

Hi guys, I'd like to join again if you'll have me. I'm in for £95.00 per week, starting from Friday 29th to Thursday 4th, so thought it best to post on here.
I'm trying to eat healthy and buy regularly so we always have something in, instead of buying takeaways (they come out of my food shopping budget) and trying to bring down the amount I spend in general too.
I won't be posting much, but will update each week.

Have you tried a cheap hot choc powder with a chunk of orange chocolate added? Just one square per cup should be enough.
The Sainsburys basics or Aldi own brand hot choc are both quite tasty and cheap for a big pot. Just buy an own brand orange chocolate bar, or terry choc orange are often on offer at £1 each, 1 segment would be plenty in a cup with the hot choc. Or look for an Orange Flavouring Oil or Orange Essence and add just a drop to a cup of hot choc.
Thank you. I did think about adding orange essence but wasn't sure if it would work. Will give it a go though2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
