  • Hi all
Think that I need to join in to concentrate my mind/spends.
I won't do a monthly target till end of March as I need to keep a running total.
My problem is that I shop for my Mum and occasionally her friend as well-either Mum or I will pay,Mum won't let me pay her back as she says 'it covers the petrol' !! Could get to John O Groats by now.
Then if I pay I get paid back but rounded up.Obviously I am never out of pocket ,but it feels very odd that I don't know where I am!
Decorating and door replacing now done,so that has been paid for and not looming over my head.
So as I have now posted on here I will have to do it,See you at the end of March.
And well done to you all.

Apologies for gatecrashing, I was a regular here for a while but that was quite a while back, but I'm sure you can help me out. I have 6 pints more milk than I have any practical use for. Obviously I don't want to waste it. Ideas please!

I do have a freezer with some space (although not much lol) and the milk is reasonably fresh (so far!) I thought I'd decant some into smaller containers to freeze and use later, and I will make a rice pudding or two (although I am yet to find a good recipe, I always overcook it).
    All ideas welcome

I've met my target for the month as just wanted to make it to payday. However, I have noticed that march looks like a long month so I'm going to try and eek out my Feb stores to the 1st March. I didn't include spends from my own account on extra food at work when I fancied crisps, chocolates or cake. I've learnt some bits this month, however, I would like to eat more healthily. I definitely increased my carb count and feel a bit podgy as a result. I will rethink this for March

    Afternoon all

    Another NSD here today :j

Just about to head to kitchen to make some salmon fishcakes for tea and we have some asparagus to go with them. DH can have cauli cheese with his as well and think I'll have some sweetcorn.

Have also defrosted some chicken so I can make a curry for the morrow. I think it always tastes better if made at least the day before ;)

Hope you all have a frugal Friday

  • £8.75 yesterday on some frozen fish fillets and oven chips - had run out of spuds for HM wedges and got a bad cold so minimal cooking a bonus :( So closing Feb under budget but I think I might have missed off some small cash topups.

Found some good food planning sites: SkintDad and a Netmums family shopping list page. They both say something very true, that you don't have to do anything too elaborate in the evenings. So in that spirit I'm doing chicken wraps n chips with optional mexican dips and mini corn on the cob, all with bits n pieces I've already got!

Might do whole March meal plan if feeling strong enough over the weekend...
