XMarch Budget : £600
April Budget: £ 5500 -
Stocked up the freezer at Iceland today. It came to £50.74. However I had £50 of Love 2 Shop vouchers given to me and hubby paid the extra 74p (how generous
) so £0 had come out of the GC fund

Firstly, welcome and look forward to you joining in March.

Have you thought of making a weekly or, even better, monthly meal plan and then a shopping list from/for that.
You could buy some red stickers and explain to all the family that if you put a red sticker on something then they are not to help themselves, as you have a plan for that.
Put a note in the biscuit tin - if you take more than two then you buy the next packet or something along those lines :rotfl:
If things are going ood then chop them up and throw them in the freezer. You can use old bananas frozen for smoothies and veg for soups or stews. Eggs can be hard-boiled, kept in the fridge for a few days and used in salads, fish pies or curries etc.

Thanks for the tip about frozen bananas in smoothies - tried it for the first time last week, with strawberries (only fruit I had in other than apples) and my two non-fussy kids wolfed it! I also discovered that frozen banana whizzed down in milk makes a great frothy banana milkshake :T like breakfast in a glass for DD, who is not a breakfast person.Mummy to 3

Just one more shop to do on Thursday for this month. Should come in under budget. I've lost one receipt, so can't get an accurate total at the minute!0

Another update for me:
Two small top ups in Sainsbury & Tesco. Total spend to date £601.86/£3840.November NSD's - 70 -
I just blew the budget for March, by ordering Meat from Muscle Foods, and a delivery from Approved Food for next week.
Then all the cupboard and freezer etc will be full again.
£90 spent. But I will not need to buy much more for the month. Just lately I have been given a lot of fruit and milk, so dried the fruit, and frozen the milk. Saves me a fortune. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

:o. I have been twice this week, my total spend for the week £45.69, I haven't had hubby's receipts but he will be around £15 if we include the dine-in. Total approx 110/200. Not quite on track so need to plan well for the rest of the month.
The month has improved and we survived half term without visiting the shops for extras:j . The 3rd main shop cost £26.89 and last night we spent £5.82. Due to the way my shopping days fall I still have a shop to do before the end of the month but have approx £50 left. Need to spend a little time checking the CC.
ETA spend £145.60/200 so £54.40 left. No so much planned out of the freezer next week but should be just about ok.0 -
My February total is £262.60 - £12.60 over budget.
This is my first month of trying to stick to a budget (for a while anyway) and certainly now it is just myself and my OH and 2 cats, with son away at Uni. So I am a little worried about being overspent, especially as I thought the £250 was a over-egged amount :rotfl:So to speak...
However, I can't seem to empty the freezer and the cupboards - without refilling every time I use something....
Back to the drawing board for March I think....February Grocery Challenge 262.50/250.00 - overspend - oh no!
March GC 0/300.00
Weight loss goal - lose 14 lbs by May 18th 2016 - so far 3 lbs lost0
