Hoping to keep this weeks 'big' shop to £25-£30 this week - fingers crossedNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
Re. the recent posts about what to include or not - my groceries budget is just that, no household stuff or toiletries or medication...I take them off the receipts and track separately. It can be very illuminating how much you can spend on non-food items!! Last week I had to buy electric toothbrush heads, don't begrudge it at all but wow they are expensive.
Had a (rare) NSD yesterday - don't have a target for them, but love the idea of only going shopping when there are 10 things on the list - must try that.
DS rejected the HM savoury rice because it was made yellow with curry powdermaybe something yellow but with less spiciness next time.

I have a seperate 'birthday' budget and all cards, presents and other birthday costs come out of that.Hi,
Spent £18.89 today. £12.84 at pharmacy. Just interested whether people include pills and remedies in groceries or budget under 'other'. Have some regular stuff we have to have.
Keep warm and safe.

Medicines come out of my 'medical' budget, but I do include cleaning products in 'groceries'. This may change, but it suits us at the moment.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

Can I suggest you have a look at what is in packet savoury rice and copy.
I do this all the time to replicate things and leave out the 'nasties'. I know that if you look on Mr T's site for something, click on it for details and you get a list of ingredientsHTH

Evening all
Well, I didn't go shopping and we did get a takeout and to add insult to injury DH didn't give DD a snack for school so she had to buy one ... and DH bought lunch out.
So .....
Groceries: 8.75
Eating out: 8.00
Chinese: 19.40
Groceries included milk, cheese and snacks for DD ....
Signature updated.
Reminder to self ... must try harder! Reality is, this week is proving tricky to get to the SM for groceries and I've been a bit obsessed about YS items, I think I just need to place an online order and get over myself!!GC - March 2024 -0 -

Try turmeric, gives colour and not as strong a flavour as curry powder and I keep reading it is good for you.
I went shopping for my mum who's indoors with a head cold and a bit of a chesty cough. Apart from her shopping, I managed to pick up some YS items: some nice focaccia to go with our spag bol tonight and some cheese, which goes down fast in our house. There were lots of other items but nothing that could be frozen or we would eat.Books - the original virtual reality.

I've used all purpose seasoning to colour the rice and the children have eaten it. I also bought a chicken seasoning from the Chinese supermarket to add colour and flavour
Spent 90p yesterday as I made the onion chutney and was just short on sugar so had to get some from the shop. Really pleased with how it turned out though2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -

I failed dismally in January as we were quite ill and I had to send friends to buy some microwave dinners that were easy to do as I didn't have the energy to do anything.
I still don't.
So I will try again this month, although in still unwell, I think I might try and get to do some cooking from scratch.
Target is £25 a week as I still have lots of frozen meat. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
